My goal is just to have a community where people can go and see what new game news is out for the day and comment on it.
Other communities:
OSRS has hands down the best wiki of any game I have ever encountered
What does OSRS stand for?
Old School RuneScape, the version thats built on an older version of the game.
There's also RS3, the more modern version that includes micro transactions.
You’d be better off ignoring the existence of RS3 altogether.
Why is that?
Its like the problem cousin. Biggest criticisms are the pay to win nature, inconsistent art style, and UI bloat. OSRS is basically the second chance to make things right and largely achieved this in every way (no p2w, simple at its core complex in its capabilities, community polling for new content). Everything that RS3 did wrong was a learning experience for Jagex. Not to say RS3 can't be fun for people
i like this but i dont feel like grinding everything again
The wealth of information on the wiki actually improves the game so much. Especially since they moved off of the shitty fandom site
Path of Exile has an excellent wiki, especially considering the game's complexity: poewiki.net
Down with fandom, always add "poe wiki" to your informational searches!
Been playing through Stardew. The wiki is a godsend
Dorf Fortress
Definitely. And absolutely needed too.
UESP is amazing for everything Elder Scrolls, especially if you're looking to go down a lore rabbit hole.
The Fallout wiki is incredible.
Oh yeah I used to browse that one a lot because I was curious about the world outside of what we see in-game. At the time there were some errors like a character being said listed as Australian because one other character said they were going to put them "down under" and stuff being miss-cited because of material like Fallout Extreme and the Fallout Bible but it seems like it got a lot better since then
Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages is outstanding. Packed full of every bit of info you could hope for, clearly delineates different types of content, thoroughly referenced, and doesn't run like shit like every Wikia wiki does
Yes Pokemon has a really large and good wiki
Other franchises with good wikis include:
-
Megaman
-
Sonic
-
Gran Turismo
-
Drakengard/NieR
-
Silent Hill, and so on...
Pokemon has at least two fantastic wikis.
Factorio and Dwarf Fortress both have great wikis IMO.
Warframe and Minecraft wiki comes to mind
Guild Wars 2 has an amazing wiki. Hosted by the company itself and written and maintained by the community. No ads, no fandom bs. One of the best gaming wikis I have ever used. wiki.guildwars2.com
Adding as a reply to make a list:
Baldurs Gate 3 official + fan wiki is not Fandom. The Fandom one literally copies stuff off of that one.
Warframe has a community run wiki that is very in depth and abides by in-game spoilers. It is hosted on Fandom though.
I think the noita wiki is really good.
Hey, that's what I wanted to write!
It doesn't just have the basic explanations of things and documents literally everything, but it even has huge guides on how to do stuff.
When I recently looked, there were like 10 different examples of parallel world teleporting wands. All listed with their advantages and disadvantages.
Even using the guides i never managed to complete the hard stuff. I just die to poly whatever god run i have XD
Minecraft has a decent wiki IIRC. I remember learning a lot about Redstone and circuits there.
Europa Universalis IV in particular, and Paradox games in general.
Warframe, the wiki is essential to play that game for any length of time.
Yeah, the wiki is absolutely required for Warframe.
The Binding of Isaac wiki has a lot. A lot a lot.
Doom wiki is great
For Dyson Sphere Program, you have to dig for this one below all the gross Fandom links:
