MODERATORS
This is the only streaming service I actually like paying for. I want to support them.
They also have some of their content in YouTube. The 'um, actually' channel is how I discovered them.
Red Letter Media
Mike and Jay are a modern Siskel and Ebert. Film reviews, b-movie marathons and recently, a lot of trivia shows :D
Far and away my favorite YouTube channel. Hugely influential considering their 1.5M subscribers.

Taskmaster
Taskmaster is an awesome show. But it's just a normal TV show with many clips on YouTube.
They put full episodes on there, not just clips
British tv has a lot of shows for free on YouTube: Jimmy Carrs "I literally just told you", Taskmaster, Qi, would I lie to you, 8 out of 10 cats... These are all bbc productions, so literally tv shows. All are panel shows with a comedic purpose, and different approaches.
For sure check out Taskmaster.
BBC is the best. The broadcasting company that is, the other one is not my kink.
If you're into cars at all, Drivetribe (founded by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May) posts a lot of content that Top Gear fans will enjoy. Very high production value.
The entire Dropout channel looks like it's from some alternative reality Comedy Central. Here's a trailer for one of their programs.

What do you think of Nebula? Does it have a lot of stuff that's worth watching you can't find on YouTube?
The main benefit for me is supporting the creators. The secondary benefit is not having to deal with YouTube.

Not on youtube, download PlutoTV app. Paramountβs old stuff, including game shows, Star Trek, Twilight Zone, lots of β60s and β70s shows, plus some documentary and DIY shows. All free and really easy to waste LOTS of time watching!
Good Mythical Morning scratches the itch for me on most days for this kind of content. Plus i just really enjoy Stevie's voice π₯°

They mostly "try" food but do a few other things as well. They are very funny. I watch this for the laughs and do learn things about the foods.

This is verrry niche but Live from Moosejaw is what looks to be a YouTube comedy series that's just starting up about a long time local hockey broadcaster who gets saddled with a big city equivalent on his talk show. Not sure if your style, but maybe Cut? It's like reality TV from 2010's MTVs but for youtube.
has tons of free tv-like channels with a slew of content. Plus you can self-host your own media on there for free too if you thatβs your thing.
I also recommend Pluto.TV for anybody who enjoys Plex's live TV. They've got a similar business model in place (watch for free with regularly-scheduled ads, like normal TV), and some different content sources (as well as some overlapping sources). Like Plex, it also doesn't require any account to watch. It also has an app for most TV platforms.
Iβd rather give the ad revenue dollars to a small, independent company like Plex over a media giant like ViacomCBS if the content is similar. Just my 2Β’.
I thought those channels were just IP-TV channels? I've seen a bunch of them on other IPTV services anyhow.

This channel focuses on exploring concepts in science with an emphasis on futurism and space exploration, along with a healthy dose of science fiction. While we explore many concepts and technologies that are far beyond us now, we try to keep everything inside the bounds of known science or major theories.
This obviously falls into the "documentaries and essays" category
Meh, I saw documentaries listed but didn't catch that they weren't looking for those specifically. Doesn't matter the OP isn't the only one in this thread and so it's here in case someone else finds it interesting.
The Big Lez Show did. Go watch it right now, you will love it.

As much as I love space time, I would very much say it's a video essay. one dude cutting to graphics and overlays.
I'd not imagine that on TV.
