Jesus of Nazareth was a loser, American evangelicals worship the true Lord, Supply-side Jesus!

You almost never hear someone tell a good joke about steaks. It really is a rare medium well done.

I knew a fortune teller, she was rather short but she told me a great joke about steak. Unfortunately, she went missing a while ago and no one knows where she is.

She's just a small medium at large now.

I've seen that Medium article shared here before and find it very unconvincing. While I agree that framing the Proton CEO as an evil Nazi lapdog is a bit much, here's a comment I saw on Lemmy another time this was discussed that explains why the article is flawed better than I could.

If anyone wants an example of Québecois swearing, I recommend checking out Lorembarnak. It's lorem ipsum but tabarnak-ified.

If you're in need of some inspiration; Tom Scott on YouTube made a video of himself learning how to ride a bike. Seeing someone else learn something can be useful, and there's a lot of little things in the video one can pick up on to avoid common mistakes.

You can definitely get a good daily-driver for less than that if you buy used and aren't scared of learning a bit of bike maintenance.

Alternatively, people should look into cycling co-ops. There's one in my town that refurbishes old bikes and sells them for around $100 (Canadian)

This is giving me [email protected] vibes

As a service worker, I have a fair few regulars who I know will brighten my day when I see them. It really doesn't take much; a friendly demeanour, a smile, a joke or two, it all goes a long way to make me feel like we're having a human interaction rather than me being a machine through which you order food & drinks. I've been doing this type of work for years but I still get flabbergasted at people who answer "latte to-go" when I ask them how their day is going.

That being said, something that annoys me (not saying you do this, you sound sweet and self-aware) is when people try to chat us up when we're clearly busy and in a rush. I don't want to be rude, and I would love to chat if I had time, but when I have a mountain of tickets to get through I'm not going to be a particularly engaging conversation partner :P

EDIT: I just want to add;

Joy is rebellion. Kindness is radical. Optimism is counterculture.

Love this. it's basically my motto at work. It's kinda silly, but even something as simple as getting service from a friendly person can make a difference in someone's day. Last year, I had a couple come in the café I worked at, chatted them up a bit, made them laugh. Come to learn they're from out of town, and I ask "what brings you to these parts?" only for the lady to break out into tears and tell me they were here for her mother's funeral. In between her sobs, she said they wanted to go out for breakfast to clear her thoughts from her grieving, and that she truly appreciated the kind and thoughtful service my coworkers and I gave them.

I went into the back and cried a bit after that, but it truly feels nice to make a positive difference in someone's day. I think about her a lot when I have a rough day at work, it helps keep me focused on trying my best. You never know what someone's going through.

I'm not an Apple user but I've heard good things about the Alfred launcher on MacOS.

I disagree, I think it definitely is a political statement.

However, kicking someone out for "politics" at a sports game, where you need to stand for national anthems and 75% of the time they'll make you "honour" some random veteran is ironic and pretty disgusting.

I don't think anyone should be bothered by political clothing at a baseball game unless said politics are actively hateful, which "Canada is not for sale" is quite obviously not.

I just took an edible and it's starting to kick in, but I still want to figure this out.

Getting stoned and getting the magic rocks in my homelab to do my bidding is one of my favourite ways to use up my time on this Earth.

looks like their product is intended to feel as close to Microsoft as possible

Maybe that's why they picked a name really easy to mistake for another office software suite, to mimic Microsoft's atrocious naming schemes :P

I'll start with a couple of mine:

  • Terry Barentsen (fast-paced urban rides, mainly in NYC)

  • BCpov (MTB rides as well as some trail building stuff)

  • Shifter (informative videos on various topics relating to cycle commuting)

  • One Cyclist in Lisbon (pretty much what it says on the tin, lots of silly city cycling moments in his compilations and as well as longer rides outside Lisbon)

  • Ed Pratt's Unicycling The World series (I know it's not a bike, but it touches on a lot of just cycle touring in general)

My favourite part of the article:

Asked what the odds were of the province heading into an early election, Higgs told reporters, "I don't play the odds, actually. I don't. So, I'm not going to delve into an election philosophy."

"I don't play the odds" gives me big "data my ass" vibes. I hope we data his ass out of office ASAP.
