4 - Started with Kbin and .world. Left my Kbin one behind because Lemmy appealed to me more. Left my .world account when they blocked piracy websites and opened a the account on my current instance (Midwest.social). I also opened a Hexbear account a while ago to join their watch parties.

This was the guy who threw Molotov cocktails, shot an AR, and broke a window:

The federal affidavit claims that Lansky caused $500,000 worth of damage at the Tesla dealership by damaging a total of seven Teslas, “with one vehicle destroyed.”

Vs

In a third case, an agent with the ATF investigated a widely-reported case in Loveland, Colorado, where a woman named Lucy Nelson is accused of spray painting “NAZI” and “FUCK MUSK” on a Tesla dealership sign, vandalizing several vehicles, and throwing a Molotov cocktail at a cybertruck over the course of several days in late January and early February.

Tesla claimed to investigators that Nelson allegedly caused $5 million worth of damage to vehicles at the dealership.

I wonder how she caused so much damage… 🤔

Like I said, taking capitalism to the extreme.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’ve seen tons of videos of people who actually free range their chickens, actually outside, and they’ve had no avian flu problems with their chickens. 🤔

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

In other words - taking capitalism to the extreme to cut costs.

“What if we just pay chicken farmers for their eggs and sell them?”

“But it will be much more cost effective if we cram these million chickens into a warehouse and drive the small guys out of business!”

An educated society is an investment for everyone.

And the insane thing is, that is proven in case after case and should be one of the core tenants of any society. It’s just that - if you make them dumb, squeeze them only a little at a time, and tell them it’s not your fault - you can get more profit for yourself. And we, as Americans, haven’t been squeezed enough to break free.

Show me the redacted screenshots of your bills being paid in cash and I’ll believe this bullshit. 🙄

It was the wrong kind of free speech, you see.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

It’s another “every accusation is a confession” - he’s accusing people who hate him of having this, but really it’s the ones who are obsessed with loving him that are deranged.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

my advice, ignore them. they'll go back to college in a few months

I wasn’t going to say anything, but since you’re so smug - spring break doesn’t last a couple of months. I’m not even a college kid and I know that.

edit: downvote all you want, doesn't make my point any less valid.

I don’t see your point. College kids do what? Respond against Trump? I would guess most of us here aren’t kids. Do you know where you are?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

So you are saying that people of all religions want to molest kids, but are held back from that because their God would disapprove?

Gosh, and here I am not wanting to molest kids all on my own.

But let’s go less icky - most people don’t want to molest kids. So let’s talk about stealing. What is keeping me from stealing from a big corpo like Walmart? Security cameras and laws. What is keeping me from stealing from my neighbors, and even other people at large? I respect other humans enough to not take the things that they have paid for. No security cameras, police aren’t around - I could go take my neighbors nice lawn mower out of his shed tonight and likely never get caught, but I don’t because I don’t want to deprive another human of things they worked hard to acquire.

I guess you’re saying that some people need religion because they have less of a moral compass than I, an atheist, have?

Edit: also, it doesn’t just happen Catholicism, and if you need the proof, I think there’s a community for that.

Edit 2: a downvote but not a rebuttal. 🙄

Can you explain? I don’t have a problem with what I see?

First, I’d like to say how much I appreciate the Thunder app. It had been overall great!

Lately, just in the past couple days, I’ve been having problems with it showing some images. Most noticeable is the Hexbear stickers.

This is what it looks like on my mobile browser:

And this is how it looks in the Thunder app lately:

As you can see, it isn’t all of them, only some of them that won’t show. It seems like it is only happening in more recent posts, and seems to be mostly the hexbear stickers, but it also seems like some articles’ thumbnails and some uploaded pictures are broken too.

I was wondering if this was happening to others, if there’s a quick fix I could try, or if anyone knows the issue before I submit it as a bug on GitHub. Thanks!

Edit: Can I get some feedback on the downvotes? Is it just because you guys don’t like Hexbear? Because that’s one of the reasons I use Thunder. If it’s something else, like this is a dumb question or “duh, that’s a bug, why not just submit it?”, please let me know. I’m just trying to do the right thing and not waste anyone’s time.

Trump backtracks on campaign pledge to bring down grocery prices

The president-elect walked back what was always a wildly unrealistic campaign promise.

Dec 12, 2024, 10:19 AM ESTUpdated 10 hours ago

President-elect Donald Trump admitted in an interview with Time magazine that it will be difficult for him to reduce consumer prices, contrary to statements he made on the campaign trail this year.

Trump told Time in an hourlong interview for its “Person of the Year” feature that his presidency wouldn’t be a failure if he failed to bring the price of groceries down.

“I’d like to bring them down. It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard. But I think that they will,” Trump said, according to the transcript.

Trump is right that it’s very hard to achieve across-the-board price reductions. Curbing inflation is only a matter of slowing the rate of price increases — actual economy-wide price drops typically don’t happen outside of a massive economic downturn.

Nevertheless, Trump repeatedly told voters during the campaign that electing him president would cause prices to tumble.

. . .

“We will cut your taxes and inflation, slash your prices, raise your wages and bring thousands of factories back to America,” Trump said at a Georgia rally in October, reciting a line he used in speeches at several other events.
