I know two ways.
The first one is to measure the non-linear flow of the filaments. Check this : https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/software/bambu-studio/calibration_pa
The other one is to measure vibrations responses to avoid some frequencies. It removes ghosting.
What printer are you using?
New printers like the Bambulabs, or Creality K1 are compensating lots of issues now, and you can print nearly perfect prints.

I have bought an AMS, but not to print multiple colours. It's to load and unload the filament for me. It's really great and I would not want to go back.
I have read about cricut like capabilities. It looks interesting but prone to catastrophic failure.
