What do you think these companies were freely competing for? It's profits. It has always been profits.

Cartels and monopolies are what happens when you have "free competition" for a bit, and then someone "wins" the competition.

Oh man I was just repeating what I read from an article, but there's so much more in that list.

racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs; union membership; genetic data; unique biometric information; citizenship or immigration status; contents of certain mail, emails, and text messages; or health, sex life or sexual orientation information.

Surely none of this could be used for nefarious purposes, right?

Unfortunately I think the ICE cars are just as stalkerish at this point (if the EV=creepy implication is intended). Kia and nissan even have bits in their privacy policies about monitoring sexual activity somehow.

Surely there is more than one place workers and people trying to enjoy downtown can park.

I assume they considered more than one location for this project, and I'm confident every possible location would elicit complaints on facebook. Discussions should be had, but I'm still being judgemental of this facebook post.

I hear people say that and really hope they're talking about recent local polling, and not some vague notion that "the NDP can't win".

[–] eatCasserole@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

That's fucked up.

The car listening to everything you say is absolutely not ok.

I get that's not what this article is about, but I hate how they're getting creepier and creepier things normalized.

Dodging the question, nice.

Equating "both sides" in this case is super gross.

how isn't firing rockets at your neighbours' population centres anything but terrorism?

So you consider Israel a terrorist state, right?

Silly me, assuming all of Canada lives in Ontario. Still nifty, and I'll have to keep an eye out for these in my local Ontario grocers too.

I don't know why people downvoted this, but yes, it's clear that she never blocked him, which would be the reasonable thing to do. Your interpretation seems totally reasonable to me.
