Oh absolutely, nothing was gained, time was wasted. My wording was too charitable.

I think it might actually be held up by the other end of that banister.

Also, the handrail mount is sideways if we're looking down; if we're looking up, it makes sense.

I've had to deal with a couple of these "AI" customer service thingies. The only helpful thing I've been able to get them to do is refer me to a human.

... Then days later, Ford defended the foolish 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese-made EVs levied by Canada’s government last year, at the US’ behest.

Why even bother with the 51st state nonsense if our government just does whatever they tell us anyway?

You want to ticket pedestrians for standing on the edge of the curb, waiting for the light? Like, on the sidewalk, just really close to the road?

I'm totally down for a new economic system, but I don't see it happening tomorrow, and in the meantime we're stuck with this mess. If we can't try to make our streets a little safer until after the revolution, well, that's also a problem.

wasting money

Who's got a higher salary, a cop or a camera?

Ticketing pedestrians

How about fuck no not in a million years. The LAST thing we need is to tell cops to go out and aggressively harass anyone who "looks distracted."

Even if cars were the responsibility of people walking (they aren't, wtf?) there's a 0% chance this could go smoothly.

Don't forget Afghanistan.

50 interviews in 8 hours is about 10 minutes per interview, and that's back to back, no breaks, no lunch, no one being late, etc.

Interesting article. I was actually just trying to recall this study, and then it was mentioned:

A UC Berkeley study found that in San Francisco—where the law requires that cars stop at crosswalks for pedestrians to pass—drivers of luxury cars were four times less likely than those in less expensive vehicles to stop and allow pedestrians the right of way. They were also more likely to cut off other drivers.

The tone of the whole "oops I tried to kill you" response is inappropriately unserious...like "not the witchy potion we want"? If a person was trying to be cute and stuff after making such a serious error, I think we would all be justifiably very annoyed.
