Even during WW2 not the whole nation was purely Nazis. The majority was brainwashed and following the cult, yes. But even during its highest peak of popularity, there were always resisting forces against the regime. Right now facism and populism are on the rise again but if you ask me a lot of that is caused by (presumably Russian) troll armys on social media.

It’s like living in medium sized town

I really like that analogy and think it fits quite well! There are by far too many users to know them all, but as you scroll through your feed and all, you keep recognizing users who you once had a discussion with or who keep posting or commenting interesting stuff to your favorite communities.

From my perspective, the shift towards (far) right politics and populism we experience in Germany is a phenomenom that we see across large parts of Europe and has nothing to do with WW2 nazis still being there. Maybe there are parallels but that ideology re-grew pretty much from scratch.

I don't care for its sportiness at all but the Ioniq 6 is a pretty solid vehicle IMHO. It's among the most efficient EVs overall, has physical buttons, you can use Android Auto and Apple Carplay, tow a trailer etc.

“It’s a very specific strain of high-quality barley that grows in the cold climate of Canada,” [...]

Butcher said a 25% tariff on the key ingredient in his beer would clearly hurt his business, which is already dealing with an uncertain business climate.

“We’re going to have to raise our prices,” he said, noting the increase could be substantial, as he held a six-pack of his beer. “This $12.99 six-pack of beer is going to end up at $18.99.”

Can someone please explain the maths behind that? Going from 12.99 to 18.99 is an increase of ~46%. How is this justified by an additional 25% tariff on one of your ingredients? As much as I dislike all this Trump bullshit, this feels more like price gouging to me, using the new tariffs as an excuse.

Or if it isn't, the article doesn't deliver enough background information for me to understand the causality.

Maybe take the broken CO2 cartridge, add some super glue to the end, screw it back in and - after letting it dry for some hours - try to screw the entire bottle out again.

Alternatively, if you can reach the broken part with a dremel, you could try to make a small cut into it (brass is pretty soft) and use a flat screwdriver in that cut to screw it out.

If successful, please don't exchange the broken cartridge the regular way but send a mail to the manufacturer to get it exchanged. Otherwise the broken one might find its way into the next unlucky household.

Also, we first have to define more precisely what 'being 2' means. E.g., if we just count birthdays and one of them is born on Feb 29th in a leap year, that person 'ages' with 1/4 of the speed.

I don't know if these filters for permanent installation have some techology to prevent this, but the smaller jug-style water filters increase bacteria growth if you don't regularly exchange them. I think for a part with such a huge internal surface that is permanently wet, this is really hard to avoid unless it has a special desinfection mechanism.

For short-term use while hiking I use water filters by Sawyer or Katadyn so far without problems. But I rinse them with chlorine and vinegar before I put them away for storage.

This seems to be

  1. a random selection of countries rather than the top ranking ones and also
  2. the numbers seem to be pretty low compared to other sources.

At least as per Wikipedia, Mexico has around 19%, Brazil /China/Taiwan 14% etc. I live in Germany and here vegetarians are typically estimated at around 10% which corresponds to the number in Wikipedia but it's not even listed in the graphic above.
