Much needed.

I have been enjoying Raccoon though development might have slowed down after a previous dev. left sometime back.

Boost is a good alternative.

Looks like Reddit blocked it.

RedReader is working.

Any simple (preferably open source) app to convert a few images into a looping GIF?

I have a ddsktop with Windows and Fedora and few other Linux distros already installed. I have a spare partition for the OS itself but have to share /home with the Fedora install.

How do I do this safely without formatting /home?

I am not doing much. May be play 1 to 2 hours a week. Other than that they don't get used much. May be my bad luck. Third time may be the charm.

Recently I am thinking like that too, but my previous cards failed within 2 years.

Yes, buying a brand new AM4 setup would be a dead end choice. Because I already have these AM4 things, I wanted to just upgrade.

Will changing the CPU cause me to lose my Windows license? I use only local account. And end of road for Win 10 is also another reason to choose a new CPU.

Those are quite expensive hence I have not explored that option yet. Another reason is exactly what you are afraid of, the room or absence of it. The GPU itself is impinging on one of SATA ports and I had to get a bent SATA connector to just make it work.

I will open the case and visually check again.

Integrated graphics is mainly as a backup plan for when discrete GPU conks off.

Presently the 2 sticks of RAM although of same brand and specification, were bought a month or two apart. So not sure if they are working as intended. How to confirm if they are working in dual channel mode or not?

I think in Ryzen CPUs having integrated GPU means loss of some memory bandwidth due to internal traffic or some other reason. This was true at least for the initial generation or two. Not sure about present.

One other reason I am looking at integrated graphics is as a backup solution for times the discrete one conks off and I need to get another or get it serviced which could be upwards of 2 weeks easily.

There are 4 SATA ports, 3 of which are taken up by HDDs (forgot about the total HDDs earlier while posting and 1 for DVD Writer.

Integrated graphics is for backup for when the discrete card fails.

I have an AM4 based desktop with the following current configuration:

  • Ryzen 2200G CPU
  • 8 x 2 DDR4 3000 MHz RAM
  • RX 7600 GPU
  • Gigabyte B450M D3SH motherboard
  • Corsair RM550 PSU
  • 1 GB M2 NVME disk
  • 2 HDDs - 1 mirroring the NVME and the other as data drive
  • Acer FullHD flat panel with FreeSync

Goals are casual gaming at 1080p or slightly lower resolution, target fps 30+

Please give me suggestions for:

  1. Best AM4 CPU available now (a) with no integrated graphics (b) with integrated graphics.
  2. How would you rate Ryzen 5700G for this setup? It is available and budget friendly.
  3. Can I buy 3200 MHz RAM to fill the 2 vacant RAM slots in my motherboard so that I can continue to get dual channel benefit? 3000 MHz RAM seems to be no longer available from the brand/locally.
  4. 1 GB SATA SSD for cheap purely to store game installations (Crucial BX) but there is no spare SATA port in the motherboard, is there a way to connect 2 HDDs to same SATA port?

EDIT 1: I think there are 3 HDDs and 1 DVD drive occupying all 4 motherboard SATA ports. I erred in the post above earlier.

Zen Browser is rather decent.

While scrolling All it does not happen. It happens if I open any post or go into any community.

Is there a setting to prevent this?

I have come across this interesting system settings module on Pling store. Is there a way to install it from within system settings like we can a theme, icons, widgets etc.? Or is it necessary to configure the package manager as suggested on the site?

https://www.pling.com/p/2229130

I have downloaded the tar.gz file hoping for a direct way to install it.

identity.kde is supposed to be used across KDE websites based on my understanding. But I am not able to login using my ID from identity.kde.

Does anyone know why or should I create a new account there?

For almost any community on the desktop I get to see only single digit posts or nil. The same community accessed through any app on my phone has lots of posts.

I have tried to understand the language selection thing in Settings on desktop, but I am unable to understand my language selections. There seems to be no way to know if a language or undetermined are presently selected.

How do I ensure that I can access all posts while browsing the default UI on the desktop?

The Alexandrite UI seems to show almost all posts like the mobile apps.

I have recently bought this Acer monitor which is a matte finish IPS screen with resolution of 1920x1080 and diagonal size of 23.8.

I generally prefer small fonts on screen to get maximum information density. But after getting this monitor, I feel that the fonts are not clear, blurry or pixelated.

What KDE System Settings > Appearance > Fonts should I use to get crisp fonts at low sizes such as 10 or 8? What fonts are good at low sizes for display?

Questions: Should I force the DPI to 96 as I used to do on my previous monitors? Some solutions are suggesting that I increase the DPI and lower font size. How does that work?

Note: I do not like scaling and making things bigger than they are already, I am trying to shrink the size rather.

My primary OS is PCLinuxOS but I also use Neon, Fedora KDE.

I use Firefox and while on the phone I use different apps and set my preferred font, I am not able to find the place to change the font for the web interface.

The default font appears very blurry to me compared to other websites.

I have forgotten where in the app are saved posts and comments. In the profile section there is only my posts and comments.

I whole heartedly appreciate KDE devs for thinking of and implementing the Similar to this feature for widgets.

My favorite distro now defaults to Icons Only Taskbar which I hate because it does not let me see which window is running which tab/directory etc. Now all I have to do is right click on the widget and select similar to this option. It automagically changes into the normal task manager.

Thank you so much for this.
