Ohh it reminds me of the Aliens vs Predator game, that was so sweet :)

Hope they get this to run in total war because I simply can't play any of that due to the terrible AI.

I wonder if reparations will ever be called for down the line, since it's a conscious choice and not due to necessity.

A simcard will have root and can be patched remotely.

I never thought much about it but one solution is to use a mobile wifi device that has the simcard, and the phone can be sim free. Just connect over wifi then. You can also then share the mobile hotspot with others. It might be possible to have a VPN directly on the hotspot device so everyone is automatically protected even if they can't afford a vpn. Mobile hotspots come in all altra of varieties and many have antenna connectors, so you can attach a powerful antenna for cellular reach and wifi gain, and just put that thing in your backpack, or attach it to a bike or truck etc.

Note that some plans don't allow for making a hotspot, or only allow it for one device, so keep an eye out for that. However there are some ways around it too. That's just to make sure you don't have 20 people on the same sim. But ya, that doesn't have to be a problem, but it's good to be aware of it.

I'm not sure about eSims. It would surprise me if they didn't work pretty much the same way. Perhaps turning off data and switching to wifi only is enough here, but that's just an hypothesis.

There's a more in depth post on security here

Didn't Lenovo have some privacy issues, like a key logger or sum iirc? Kinda a vague memory but I remember that's why I didn't buy one.

We could live in domes and play Rollercoaster tycoon 2

Yea those are still the best. I like watching Arte sometimes or other public channels because there's no ads.

Back then ads were quite nice tbh, like they'd actually put effort into it to make it catchy and funny or beautiful. And TV was worth watching. Like the discovery channel was amazing.

Haven't seen an ad in over a decade, except by accident, which is jolting. The stuff in my head is from the 90s...

I've always wanted to visit a factory. I've been in an airbus factory and that was nice, there were Tibetan monks there too. But it wasn't like a factory factory.

Or replace the ads with something else like Lemmy

It's good for all of us to be privacy literate, given that things can take a turn for the worse in many places, or already are bad. There was a post a few days ago that highlighted how the vast majority of trans people rely on internet access 🤔

I'll start by saying that matrix seems to be a solid solution for communication, and tor for accessing information. It's worth it to get familiar with them before you need them yourself, but also to understand them as a community so we can support each other globally 🏳️‍⚧️

I am also wondering if any of you are familiar with getting around network restrictions. For example a DIY mesh network? 📡

Don't give up. Eat your breakfast. Be ready to open the door. Sometimes I just can't take it anymore. A shoe lace here, a shoe lace there, all tangled up and poor.

I ruminate in the deepest point of darkness. In the eye of the singularity and at the heart of warmth. Thuds of fire strike upon the distant shore.

I pull and I pull, but I cannot free my neck. And my face runs pale, and my experience runs thin. I gasp for air, and I let it in.

An oasis in my breath. The orange of orange juice. And I, and I can be found in the blue sky, by the grace one cannot lose.

When last night I lay in pain, I snapped this just for you, as the moon came.

Hey lovelies, open question: Are any of you into self defense and do you want to share something with the rest of us?

❤️⚔️❤️

I was at this fry shop today and the owner was teaching his new minions how to make what I had ordered. He said sir in the background. Well, I'm used to it, so whatever, I plopped my butt down and waited for that golden finger lickin' goodness.

Eventually the guy awkwardly comes to the front through a door. Acts out of place. Says something nice to this person and that person, dunno what he was up to at first so I just did my thing.

At some point he works up the courage and walks up to me and makes some small talk. Then he asked me my pronouns, so I'm like she/her. He apologized that he misgendered me before and called me adorable! 😭

Now, just yesterday someone called me a trannie before riding off on his bicycle, but that's a story for another time. Safe to say I'm a fair Claire ⭐

I mean, whenever I hear an alarm I ignore it, because I just hear it so often. But what if instead we used these types of alarms for real emergencies? For example a personal alarm to protect yourself.

As far as I'm concerned this is a free speech comment section. Just don't forget the people who might be reading this and the beelaw.
