Hi lemmers! A few people have missed women's communities so I started [email protected] for all things women. Whether you want fashion advice, friendly chatter with women or discuss serious issues... you're totally welcome.

If you love cyberpunk universes but also think most problems should be solved by fireballs you're bound to love Shadowrun, one of the oldest TTRPGs still kicking!

Whether you're a 2nd edition aficionado, you're already waiting for 7E, just interested by the universe or completely new to the party feel free to drop by our EN/FR community!

I'm already in the process of documenting my own campaigns and showing off my beautiful commissioned art and I would love to see what other people have done with that incredibly dense universe!

I opened a metal detecting community this week to share finds while inspiring others to pick up the ~~beepy stick~~ detector for themselves. I wrote up a guide to help anyone interested in getting started. Feel free to ask me questions I would be happy to help get newbies started.

Lets get outdoors and collect some cool artifacts hiding beneath the seven soils!

The top sumo wrestlers in Japan compete every other month in tournaments that last two weeks. The March tournament just started a couple days ago, and for the rest of the tournament I plan to post daily links to recap videos. You're welcome to come join and discuss and/or ask questions.

Imagine two linebackers crashing against each other but they have no padding and they're allowed to do judo throws and there's a priest urging them on. That's basically sumo.

Americans tend to think of sumo as a funny thing, but in reality it's a quasi-religious endeavour. The wrestlers live communally in a highly stratified environment training daily, and the referees perform shinto-derived rituals before and after the day's matches. The wrestlers gain weight to make them harder to push, but underneath that weight they are all muscle.

Anyway check it out!

Are there any communities for the partners of trans people?

I know it would be best if I create the content I want to see here, but I don't feel qualified to mod on my own. Most of the posts on Reddit are people whose partners have just began transition, and I haven't been through that.

[email protected]

Why? To try a "third way" between [email protected] and [email protected]

Those kind of communities tend to get quite popular anyway, as they're quite generic.

I also feel like new comers are probably used to a higher rhythm of content, do maybe that could be a community that could help with that to ensure that Lemmy can actually become a Reddit alternative for them

I wanted to share some electronic music communities across Lemmy. While a lot of them are small and honestly across all communities there are maybe ~10 regular posters, we do have a solid core that will hopefully grow in line with people switching to the Fediverse.

[email protected] - If you don't have much exposure to electronic music, house is a good place to start. It includes influences from US disco and many mainstream tracks have been influenced by house music. Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight)

[email protected] - Deep house is the more introverted and psychedelic variant of its more popular cousin. That being said, Deep house has a more down to earth feel than many other EDM genres that lean towards psychedelia. 1 800 GIRLS - U, Me and Madonna

[email protected] - An intense dancefloor genre, but also offers a surprising breadth of sub-styles that vary from dark dancefloor music to an almost dance-pop sound (liquid, iD&B). Its jungle cousin ([email protected]) is influenced by reggae and dub music. Omni Trio - First Contact

[email protected] - It's all about the bass. Some niche/underground stuff offers a unique take on the standard dubstep formula. Kahn - Like We Used To

[email protected] - The underground "prototype" of dubstep. Tends to have a more raw and freeform feel relative to dubstep. You can definitely see the connection to dubstep, but UK garage has its own vibe. Cellardore X Mind of a Dragon - Freedom

[email protected] - IMO trance is one of those live genres (and I say this as someone who mostly listens to trance music at home). It's such a great experience to be flying high with hundreds (thousands?) of other people during a banging live trance mixset. Binary Finary - 1998 (Original Mix)

[email protected] - Home listening electronic music focused on "in your head" soundscapes and a contemplative mood. Perfect for when you want something relaxed, but unique, for a rainy evening. Boards of Canada - Aquarius

[email protected] - It's about the sound and feel. You "progress" through the track. More of a style than a genre that reflects 90s and early to mid 2000s production sensibilities. Highly influential with a big impact on other genres and even mainstream music. Best to just hear it: Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (James Holden remix).

[email protected] - Fly from the beaches of goa to underground electronic music clubs. A dancefloor genre that reflects the psychedelic experience. You might end up hearing quotes (samples) from Ken Kesey, Albert Hoffman and Terence McKenna in a lot of the tracks. Shpongle - Star Shpongled Banner

[email protected] - I enjoy Acid Techno, but I will admit that at this point this is more of retro genre that reflects an early 90s sounds that served as a prototype for everything that came after it. 808 State - Disco State

I found some years-old communities for this, but they were long dead and the mods seemed to have gone inactive long ago, too.

There is a community in Lemmy but it's been abandoned. I use to run one in Kbin until it died, so I am launching a new one via Mbin. Come kiki and spill the T on your favorite drag shows!
