It's not the 1% it's the 0.01%.

I initially knee-jerk disagreed, thinking it's gotta be all those rich bastards, but then I checked the numbers. The top 0.1% of the US had $22.19 trillion in wealth in Q1 2025. Zoom out to the top 1% and it was $27.2 trillion.

Yeah, it's the fucking 0.1%.

Obviously, I just wanted to know how much is the difference between 0.1% and 0.01%

I was annoyed that no one was answering this because I was tacitly curious too. For what its worth, it was kinda difficult to find a current figure, but in 2021 it was 11% of the global wealth or $51.81 trillion. The top .1% only has about $56 trillion from what I can tell.

So even in that bracket, the ultra-super pro max wealthy own 90%+ of the top .1% of global wealth if my numbers are even remotely correct. That list would be the world's 810,000 most wealthy individuals.

Dang, nice research. I literally has no idea how to find those figures. As I expected, wealth is super concentrated at the top even amongst the 0.1%. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

I've heard some actual numbers thrown about that are in the triple digits. Like if you cap the top 230 most wealthy people at a billion (or 10) US, we could build a shitton of lead free aquaducts or whatever your favorite 'metric of the commons' is.

My guess is that greed approaches infinity the more you zoom.

The 0.0001% actually : https://eattherichtextformat.github.io/1-pixel-wealth/

(Someone actually updated it with Musk's fortune, but this version is more relevant here)

The top 1% of the top 1%. The guys that play God without permission.

What I'm about to tell you is top secret. There's a powerful group of people out there that are secretly running the world. I'm talking about the guys, no one knows about the guys who are invisible. The top 1% of the top 1%. The guys that play God without permission. And now I think they're following me.

The problem I have with this conspiracy of capitalism is that, after having reached the top of the money pile by unadulterated selfish means, we now expect these people to work collectively for each other's benefit?

Nah.
