I just found this when looking for Canadian alternatives. Anyone else hear about gander? I'm doing my best to support home grown and open alternatives but I have to choose what I am doing on the platform. It's unlikely that my older family will ever leave Facebook, but honestly, what do I miss by not being present there? Birthday posts on my wall and the latest vacation picture...

I have bad habits of killing Pi installs so I am terrified of self hosting bitwarden, bitwarden is a US company. While I am not a fan of some of the things about 1Password I think it is better than the Apple Passwords I am moving away from.

Just started using Bitwarden actually. Have a lastpass account paid for the next 9 mo, so migrating over time. Bitwarden has an .eu option as well (also free), just have to remember to select it when logging in or it'll look like your account vanished and then panic ensues. :D

It has been a long time since I have thought about lastpass, they got into trouble for being hacked and the password and user names not being hashed properly or not at all. The .eu of Bitwarden is still paying for a US service, and I would not be surprised if the data was stored on the same servers as the ones in the US and they just have an office in the EU.

Agreed re: Lastpass... it's why I'm migrating. I'm likely missing something but from my read, BW.eu has to comply with GDPR and do have physical servers in Germany. And yeah, free tier suffices for now so not paying US owned service, just using one, but yeah would be better to find a Canuck service.

1password is what I migrated to, as it is Canadian.
