Musk, the anti-free speech hypocrite.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 46 points 8 months ago

Musk, the Apartheid trust fund baby

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 74 points 8 months ago (4 children)

if you're still using twitter, then you deserve exactly everything you're getting from it

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@kbin.run 25 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Yes, and I'm not using xtter, but I'm still being effected by it. As is everyone on the planet.

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

exactly. which is why i shit on it and people using it at every opportunity

[–] Aphelion@lemm.ee 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Shitting on people is a lot less effective than showing them something better.

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 5 points 8 months ago

"something better" in this case is getting rid of the notion that microblogging is even something that anyone needs

[–] flicker@lemmy.world 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The thing that makes me nuts is people justify it by, "but it's the only place I can find (person or service)."

Back in my day! People posted their products and services on multiple platforms to reach a broader audience. If the creator you like is too lazy to market themselves, having gotten spoiled on "Xitter will do my marketing for me," then that's on them. Encourage them to post on other platforms in order to reach you.

They are complicit and so are you.

Kamala Harris isn't a 'creator'

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 3 points 8 months ago

Exactly. As simple as this.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

How else is someone going to find out about Biden retiring? Twitter is the official government platform.

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 2 points 8 months ago

apparently not for much longer, if this post is true

[–] LEDZeppelin@lemmy.world 32 points 8 months ago (1 children)

US government should immediately suspend and deactivate all their official Xitter accounts with a message asking people to stand against fascism

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 10 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Nah, the government should leave en masse and say it's because it supports free speech. And post a screenshot of the 1st amendment.

[–] Gladaed@feddit.org 3 points 8 months ago

Read this as levee en masse. Quite confusing.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 20 points 8 months ago (1 children)

If you're still on Twitter, fuck you.

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 4 points 8 months ago

How is it still a thing? Every day we stray further from God

[–] EfreetSK@lemmy.world 17 points 8 months ago

There is nothing we can do people. There is absolutely no other option, we just have to continue using Twitter :'(

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 8 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I’ve seen this claim in two news stories with no evidence. I just followed her effortlessly using these steps:

  • Tap search button in bottom menu
  • Type “Kamala Harris” and hit submit
  • Tap first search result
  • Tap follow button in upper right

It worked without a problem

I mean, the story linked above includes a screenshot showing the rate-limiting error message. I assume it's been fixed, but no reason to think the rate limit error didn't actually happen.

[–] AIhasUse@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It was a rate limit for someone following too many people. Anyone can go follow her no problem. The person writing this article know there are morons out there that will eat up and share anything vaguely anti-musk.

[–] Captainvaqina@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 months ago

Right we don't need to see any more anti-musk shit because we already know he is bankrolling a traitor.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 1 points 8 months ago

no reason to think the rate limit error didn't actually happen

  • I didn’t say that it didn’t happen
  • I reported my experience
  • I can think of at least two reasons to fake this story: (1) Harris gained a follower when I performed my test, same as the millions of others seeing this story, (2) bad story about Musk for the Musk haters

So maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t. I haven’t seen evidence other than the claim of someone who supposedly follows thousands of people but hadn’t yet followed the vice president.

Not saying it is true, not saying it isn’t. Saying it might not be, and my own observation doesn’t replicate the claim.

[–] AIhasUse@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (2 children)

It is ridiculous that we have gotten to the point that completely clearly pointing out that an article is BS gets downvoted. Do better lemmyites.

[–] Aphelion@lemm.ee 13 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Just because it's working fine for you now doesn't mean the article is false. Your anecdotal experience does not retroactively change the past.

[–] AIhasUse@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

And a single person who writes what they know you want to hear is absolute proof. We know how you think.

[–] cowfodder@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The plural of anecdotal is not data.

[–] AIhasUse@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

But a single article that confirms your bias is. Fascinating how that works.

[–] Buelldozer@lemmy.today 7 points 8 months ago

FYI there is a threads relay to mastadon for the official White House account. There's also several unofficial xitter relays for VP Harris to Mastadon.

If you'd like official accounts on Mastadon please contact the White House / Biden / Harris and let them know.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

I'm sure the respected journalist Matt Taibi is cracking the case right down as we speak... surely you're back on the Twitter files, aren't you Matt?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Musk has also attacked Harris more directly. “Democrats destroy democracy in pursuit of power,” a QAnon-linked influencer wrote with Biden’s resignation letter attached. “The Democratic elite, corporate media, and billionaire donors successfully pressured the candidate chosen by Democratic primary voters to drop out because he’s down in the polls and losing.

Same bs "moderates" tried to frame Biden stepping down...

They really do sound more and more like trumpets everyday

[–] DrPop@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

So land of the free but if we vote for you to run you have to even if you don't want to anymore. I didn't vote for Biden in my primary.
