Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Born rich bitch immigrant who does nothing but buy out companies wants hard working Americans to justify themselves to him.

Why are conservatives such cucks? Why did they vote to be such cucks to an immigrant?

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

They have a bad habit of confusing appearances for substance.

Musk and Trump appear strong (thanks to a combo of almost all conservatives understanding nothing about how government works and the media hyping up the Terrible Twosome), therefore they are strong.

He's too dumb to realize he's the fall guy...

Probably too dumb to not realize it's never been trump calling the shots. So he thought he just had to pull one over on trump.

Oligarchs aren't really a big club of chummy buds laughing at the poors, Musk doesn't understand the league that his own money puts him in. Musk is a sociopathic asshole, but Putin is a god damn bond villain. He wouldn't even do it just for the money, he'd just want to put the "worlds richest man" in his place, because that number only counts legal money.

I could see this shake out where trump "prosecutes" him for fraud and taking 100s of millions or even billion plus from Musk to be used for bullshit like laundered thru contracts or used as "aid" to a country that cuts trump some on the backend.

Like, we joke about "president Musk" these days, but Putin and others have much bigger claws in trump.

Next week Musk will be sending out, "Find out which Harry Potter character you are. Just answer a few questions about your work."

He's still not getting one from me

I'm a contractor, this guy literally has zero say over my work. And if the contract I'm on suddenly stopped, a bunch of really important satellites would end up lost lost in space. Point is, Elon can suck an egg.

[–] evilcultist@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Looking forward to the inevitable news story about DOGE frantically trying to rehire contractors to find missing satellites that they didn’t realize were important. I hope they have to give everyone a raise.

(But, seriously, all the best and fuck Elon)

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

We have been deemed mission critical, whatever that means. So, we've been assured nothing will happen. But we'll see. These dickheads aren't exactly being subtle, or judicious about their cuts.

I was told it was just a joke.

[–] superkret@feddit.org 5 points 1 month ago

If an e-mail tries to create a fake sense of urgency, it's likely spam and should just be deleted.

I'd rather resign than justify my job to this unelected sack of shit.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I wouldn't resign, make them fire you, and then turn around and sue them for violating employment law.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No one will hear your case. It won’t ever reach a court room.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes they will, you cannot fire a federal employee for not answering an email. That's not how that works.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 2 points 1 month ago

They can do whatever they want now. They will do it and then ignore any judicial intervention.

[–] credo@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Musk and Trump both used the Government to fund, and back, their ventures— until they finally “got it right.” They built their fortunes on the backs of others, in the safe space called the USA. Now they want to break that system for anyone else, just so they can squeeze more millions out of us.

The justification, you twat, is that it obviously worked for you.

[–] skeezix@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Blorbo stop posting paywalled articles please.

[–] blorbo@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't have any kind of account on cbsnews.com, but don't see a paywall when I click on this link. I think that's about the limit of the due diligence I'm willing to do--if it loads fine for me without an account I'm going to assume it'll work for other people.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 4 points 1 month ago

Works for me too. Complains about ad-blocker, and presumably eventually it will require it to be disabled.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Didn’t he say just the other day that this was “all just a joke”? Make up your damned mind weirdo.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

This is always in their playbook. They get called out for acting stupid and they are all "we are just joking." If they don't get called out they are all "we are serious." The truth is they are just clowns.
