Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Hegseth now has someone to go to lunch with.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago

He’ll be Hegseth’s Designated Driver.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

More like Hegseth should be careful since his replacement has already stepped forward.

Perfection.

A Johnson spokesman said the speaker is standing by his chief of staff and "has full faith and confidence" in him.

"I support drunk driving."

Was he over the legal alcohol limit? Yes, but did he hurt anybody? No! He's a fine upstanding citizen, and I'm going to give him a $1,000,000 raise he's such an upstanding guy.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago

but did he hurt anybody?

He's hurt so many people

So, the 99% will be paying for the damage, and nary a word will be spoken about a drunken, non-elected appointed representative who will be laughing about it in a week's time.

Was there anyone in the audience who didn't need a drink after that shitshow?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The responsible ones found a safe way to get home.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Walk to the nearest train station. It's how any responsible person would travel.

Sadly, much of this country is built around fucking cars. And the richest Nazi in the world runs a car company.

They were in DC and could have taken the Metro, taken a cab/rideshare, or had one of the other villains in attendance that wasn't drunk drive them home.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Pretty sure that's called socialism. \s

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Considering it's Mike Johnson's chief of staff, I'm pretty sure the drinking was celebratory.

Well a DUI isn't that bad - at least he wasn't looking at porn. /s

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Looking at porn is fine, as long as one of his children gets an app notification on their phone when he does.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 2 weeks ago

"And of course, as an important Republican, he will face no repercussions whatsoever."

DUI recruitment

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wish I could know if it was because it was celebratory, or guilty conscious.

You don't get to be a Republican's chief of staff by having a conscience.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Well, denial is a powerful drug. Once that glass breaks, you may start to drink more than you should.

Stalin didn't have a conscience and he still nervously drank like he was hiding a body under the rug.

EDIT: You know what, he probably was now that I think about it.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

This is not the law and order party. I’m sure the charges are already dropped.

DUI is a local issue so the Administration should not be able to do anything... should not

[–] obviouspornalt 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If it was in DC, pretty sure that's a federal issue.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Only on federal property, not just in DC.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Resign or prison please. As a leader he needs to lead by example.
