He's not an idiot if he's trying to dismantle the government. Bannon is behind all of this.

[–] [email protected] 75 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Dude bankrupted a casino. He's a fucking idiot.

He was smart enough to recover from that and become president of the US. He's a rapist, conman, felon, and he still became leader of the free world and is now taking it over as a dictator. That is not stupid. Did he have super intelligent help? Yes. Is he being used as a tool, who the fuck cares?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Becoming president and avoiding prison was not the result of any intelligence, it's purely an outcome of wealth, assets, and connections.

Give any average person the same privilege, they could get the same results.

Take away Trump's wealth, assets, and connections, what is he? Homeless on the streets, deranged yelling into dumpsters as he rummages through the garbage

The sleaziest used car salesman in a 200 mile radius.

A homeless guy ranting on the street corner. This guy could never hold a job.

Native New Yorker here. His stupidity is legendary in his home town. When he built his Tower he had a choice between razing the site completely and preserving the famous façade. At the time, Jackie Kennedy was famous for her part in helping to save great old buildings. He had a chance to get in good with the most influential woman in America and threw it away because he's an idiot. That's just one story.

I'm not saying he hasn't done unbelievably stupid things. Being a dictator and sinking our economy isn't going to work out well for any of us. What I think he is extremely smart about is being a cult leader, being persistent about getting what he wants, and getting a lot of people to do his dirty work. I think that's his super power, convincing billionaires, assholes smart and dumb, and the common folk to believe that they're different and he's got their back. All lies, of course.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 weeks ago

Trump is “extremely” many things, smart is not one of them. I refuse to believe that that bloated corpse of a human is making his own decisions about anything any time in last 10 years.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

You really don't have to be smart to lead a bunch of sheep who have been brainwashed for generations.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

All I have to say is Rudy Giuliani or Elon Musk for you to see that these people aren't brainwashed. They believe that he has/had their back for some reason. Elon is in the before phase of Rudy Giuliani. I wonder what his Four Seasons Landscaping moment is going to be.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 weeks ago

Let me put it this way.

I'm a native New Yorker. After hearing about Trump for years I happened to be close to the Tower, so I decided to see for myself. The outside is plain black glass. The inside is all gold with a big waterfall. I thought it looked like a giant toilet, but the place was pretty full.

He's stupid and he gives stupid people the freedom to be their worst selves.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 weeks ago

He didn't make himself president. He had some natural talents that helped the process along, but being an angry idiot which means he could connect emotionally with a lot of American voters who are also angry idiots was one of them. It's in no way a counter argument for him being an idiot.

If you fire a sedated turkey buzzard into an airplane engine, that doesn't make it a skilled mechanic, even if it then makes unprecedented changes to the characteristics of the airplane.

If you have enough financial backing, you WILL become president. Our system is broken. Has been for a while. Intelligence has nothing to do with becoming the US president. It's all about selling yourself.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

The fact that he's been able to do that despite acting and speaking like someone with significant TBI is a testament to how anyone can be made president.

(But on no account be allowed to do the job.)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

is a testament to how anyone can be made president.

I can honestly say that I would and could never be president.

As long as they're not a woman anyway.

bankrupted a casino

Yeah, but how much did he make?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago

And how much were his backers able to launder?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 weeks ago

He's an absolute moron but he's also the poster child of failing upward. As long as you're rich in the US it's nearly impossible to actually fail. He's squandered most of the wealth his sleazy father left him, but he still has enough left over to be completely insulated from the consequences of his actions. His children won't be as fortunate unless they're a lot smarter than he is and actually manage to make some money instead of constantly losing it.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

He doesn’t even know what he doesn’t know.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago

More importantly, as a deeply incurious person, he doesn't want to know.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

How about a Trump blackout day, where we read nothing about Trump, or what he said for an entire day

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago

Great idea! See you tomorrow!
