Neat, house Democrats feel the same way as I do!

Now, could you like, do something? Anything?

[–] [email protected] 39 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

They are, but most media just doesn't talk about people fighting back even close as much as it talks about the problems. Axios has a bit better coverage of what house dems are doing besides just their public statements of pressuring of senate dems

Complete meltdown. Complete and utter meltdown on all text chains," said the member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to offer sensitive details of members' internal conversations.

A senior House Democrat said "people are furious" and that some rank-and-file members have floated the idea of angrily marching onto the Senate floor in protest.

Others are talking openly about supporting primary challenges to senators who vote for the GOP spending bill

[....]

"People are PISSED," one House Democrat told Axios in a text message.

Several members — including moderates — have begun voicing support for a primary challenge to Schumer, floating Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) as possible candidates, three House Democrats said.

One lawmaker even vowed at the House Democratic retreat to "write a check tonight" supporting Ocasio-Cortez, said the senior House Democrat

Another Democrat told Axios the ideation has gone a step further: "There is definitely a primary recruitment effort happening right now ... not just Schumer, but for everyone who votes no."

[...]

Said one member: "Folks are still working the phones tonight with their senators. We have not given up."

CALL. YOUR. REPS. AND. SUPPORT. THIS.

Tell them you want Schumer out. Tell them you want a real progressive in charge. Tell them you want a progressive party that fights like hell for the people. Tell them that you will personally work to help primary them out if they don't grow a fucking spine.

Raising your voice costs you nothing, so just fucking do it.

I don't give a fuck about your magical third party that's going to manifest from the ether. You can still do that, no one is stopping you.

But right now you have an opportunity to capitalize on this outrage and possibly make a real, meaningful change.

You miss every shot you don't take.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Install the app "5 calls." It gives you a script and the relevant representatives and senators phone numbers to call. You don't need to look anything up, and it will remind you to call them at whatever intervals you set. I call weekly.

It is free and I have never seen an ad or request for donations

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Even the fucking centrists that no doubt had to fight every instinct to capitulate. All for nothing if Schumer just folds like a wet napkin. Again.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You are in their thoughts and prayers.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

and maybe some 'slammings' and some pink hats or colored wrist bands.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Now now, they've moved on to auction paddles.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I am sure do believe those auction paddles will stop the Republicans. /s

I know it's off-topic, but thank you so much for linking to the text-only NPR site. It's like a breath of fresh air in an city full of shit (by which I mean ads), grime (ads), and ads (you guessed it, ads).

Deep sense of outrage and betrayal

Yes the democrats are made of democrats.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

being betrayed by the same guy who betrayed you however many times before …

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

With the memory of a goldfish, they forgot.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

When they're all you have, every betrayal stings anew.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Shocked Pikachu face

The Democrat doing what Democrats always do, fake resistance and then capitulate to Republicans. That's how that ratchet effect works, and that's how the country keeps shifting further to the right.

Dems looking more like Team Rocket lately

He’s quite a wretched little cunt

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

After it was known that Musk was salivating for the shutdown to cut more shit, I’m not really surprised. They’ve got 2 years to fight back. You don’t spend all your political capital before you’ve earned it

[–] [email protected] 35 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If I understand correctly this CR legalizes DOGE and everything it has and wants to do in the future. Shutting government down completely is preferable, IMO. The federal employee unions agree.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

The federal employee unions agree.

Or "why democrats have decided to take the opposite position."

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You think not shutting down is going to truly slow musk down? You think dems will accomplish anything meaningful in the next two years with Rs in control of all three branches? What fucking political capital? They fail at pretty much every turn. How are they going to earn capital by just failing?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A government shutdown would no doubt help the GOP dismantle the government faster.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

By shutting down the government

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

You got your wish. The bullshit bill giving Trump everything he wanted passed.

Congratulations. You can stop trolling now.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

They won't, they love the New Republican Party, formally called The Democrat Party.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

That doesn't answer my question, how does shutting down the Federal government that Trump controls speed him up?

It's the one thing the Dems in Congress can press on him. Republicans did it to Obama, why can't we have the representatives we voted for, myself included, represent the need to slow him down?

Just keep giving him money and rubber stamp his bills for the Neo-Enabling Act. That'll show him!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That person is a troll. Don't bother.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

You’re calling me a troll just because you don’t like what I say. This is a good way to make yourself bias in this echo chamber.

He is trying to shut it down by dismantling it.

Threatening to give him what he wants by defunding the government just gives him what he wants but places the blame on the Dems.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then why did Trump not want the shut down? Why give him what he wants in the bill, and not what he is mad at?

If you think you have political capital options in the current administration you’re insane

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

And that you accumulate it by not doing things. It's such an inane concept that somehow only gets used to argue against acting and never for.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

And just the stupidity of thinking Chuck fucking schumer is going to be the political genius of building and using political capital effectively. Just ridiculous.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah. If you look like a bitch to people who think "the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must", then the strong will do what they can(that is what you allow them to do with little resistance) and you suffer what you must.

They’ve got 2 years to fight back

They had 4 years to "build a case" against trump. No more delays and no more excuses.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Democrats have no political capital, they're nothing but hollow platitudes and fake resistance.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Capital is built on credibility. Schumer just flip flopped very publicly from what people want him to do, to what they always knew he would do. Literally overnight.

Should we expect some kind of announcement from the new head of the DNC about this or not?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

Not. He's support and fundraising staff, not a policy leader that's going to diss a Democrat.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Fuck me. The backstab is from the cheese guy. 🤯
