No PC no buy. Fuck your console exclusive bullshit I ain't double dipping this time

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I don't think a lot of people are going to double dip this time. This game will sell consoles, but it's not going to make up for the deficit the console market has compared to how many PS3s and Xbox 360s were out there in 2013.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago (25 children)

I really hope this is true. The only thing that will stop Rockstar from the delayed PC release nonsense in the future is actually stopping the double dip.

I ended up with a PS4 just for Red Dead 2. But I still haven't bought it on PC and have no plans to do so.

The thing is, the PS4 kind of made sense because I also wanted a Blu-Ray player. I still have it for that, so a PS5 would be an impossible sell to me. It's like Rockstar tries to sell consoles but this time around is one of the worst ever console eras.

Can't wait to pick this up for $30 on PC 3 years after it's released. Fuck $80 games and fuck double-dip releases that don't release same-day on PC.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

And it will still be full of bugs

Truly the darkest timeline

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 week ago (3 children)

They really like showing Lucia's ass in these trailers...

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Seems to be all they had to show in this one.

The first thing i noticed is the awful amount of TAA/Upscaling artefacting. Apart from that it looks good i guess. I mean its GTA. It will probably be an enjoyable game. But still: Fuck Rockstar. Fuck Take2.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As long as they let you turn off the upscaling I won't complain about it. Unfortunately there has been a trend as of late to force it on; the artifacting drives me nuts. It's always harder to to see in youtube videos though, since they are compressed quite a bit compared to live play.

Biggest thing that concerns me was their focus on pushing one into multiplayer in V. I'm worried that is going to intensify since it made them so damn much money doing that last time.

Either way, game isn't out for a year, and it isn't out for PC for probably two years. So, just going to go back to enjoying my Breath of Fire IV playthrough I'm currently doing. :)

You mean aside from abandoning RDR Online, cancelling GTA V singleplayer DLC in favour of GTA Online shark cards, intentionally delaying the PC release of GTA V to maximise the number of people who would buy the game more than once because of FOMO, absolute dog shit support and punishing their community by crushing the modding community? I'm not sure.

Just cutscenes, no gameplay, as always with these trailers. Cutscenes look nice but that doesn't mean shit.

Why can't they show at least a glimpse of gameplay.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

It's still a year away.

You know what's wild? The original Vice City was a period piece, taking place in 1986, 16 years before the year it was released. This Vice City will be released 13 years after the last GTA.

Maybe I’m just old, but I feel like all the people complaining about no PC port at launch, or how this trailer doesn’t show gameplay must be ‘new’ to the series (which to be fair, could mean as much as a decade).

This is how Rockstar have pretty much always done it, going all the way back to GTA3 on the PlayStation 2; PC ports have always been 6+ months after.

Trailer 1 tends to be about the setting, Trailer 2 about the primary characters, then Trailer 3/4 about the supporting characters. ‘Gameplay Trailers’ usually don’t come out around/after launch as that’s usually what’s being still being worked on by the devs.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 week ago (2 children)

We will always complain about the lack of a PC port at launch... especially in this era.

We're not going away

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

Feel free to complain, no one is trying to stop you. Just understand though that you are screaming into the void, and nothing will come of it bar heightened cortisol.

Grand Theft Auto is the arguably the most profitable gaming franchise ever, and it got there doing this exact release cadence. Rockstar Games & Take-Two Interactive will continue to do so for as long as it continues to maximise profits.

Does it stuck for us gamers? Absolutely, but that’s just Capitalism. Given how quickly this hobby has been enshittified over the post decade, we should probably be counting our lucky stars that it looks like Rockstar is still investing heavily into the next entry, and not just pumping out shallow annual releases like Call of Duty!

Even if it comes on PC, it will come with the stupid Rockstar launcher.

I have now decided to stop playing games that require anything else than just pure Steam or GOG Galaxy.

This way I could pass to Linux and don't have to install crappy bloatware on my machine.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Just FYI: I've had a really good experience with Heroic launcher. Use for playing those Epic freebies I've accumilated over the years, and has been pretty solid, almost Steam-like experience.

I love how it starts with Jason saying "Just fixing a few leaks". I see what you did there.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago (4 children)

everyone is mad about the lack of pc port. im just glad her ass is great.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Y'all have been doing this with every GTA release since the very beginning of the series. I don't know why everyone keeps falling for it. The PC port is coming; it always does. Most likely around Q4 2027, or Q2 2028 at the very latest.

Rockstar does this because people have very short term memories. They're banking on your forgetfulness so that you'll buy the console version, and then the PC version as well when they announce it a year later. The Rockstar double dip is their signature move.

I struggle to connect with any of those characters. I did like Niko Bellic, he was a “character”. Maybe it was his accent, his immigrant’s take on things, don’t remember, it was a while ago.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago

4s story is my favorite of the series.

The juxtaposition of the immigrant story with the satire of America that gta normally has meshed very well. Thinking of the internet Cafe mission and Brucie. Niiko as a character brought more than the flavor of gang members previous and after.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The GTA 4 story was amazing, I missed more dramatics moments on GTA 5, the closest I felt we had for a dramatic moment was

spoilerthe killing Michael ending

I can see it now.

So, Jason and Lucia are together, right? Lucia gets out of jail and then Jason and Lucia start robbing again. Pulling a Bonnie and Clyde thing robbing across Vice City and the surrounding areas. But, as a result of their robberies, something from either of their pasts comes back to bite them. Maybe Lucia has some connections to the cartels and is the reason why she got canned. Or Jason got her out by doing making a deal with someone he shouldn't have. Either way, kinda like what happened with Michael in the last game, they're forced to work with the cartels and corrupt cops. And, eventually, it gets to the point that they've become so infamous that either the cops are cartels have it out for them. But, they offer them a deal. To either Jason or Lucia. You wanna live? Kill the other. If you don't, you're both dead. That's gives us multiple endings like GTA V. Either Lucia dies, Jason, or both.

If it's anything like Bonnie and Clyde, the ending is not going to be fun.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

But it turns out they fake their deaths and the camera pans to a small town in mexico: "15 years later..." where you play as their child and discover they're both alive and well, but bored with their lives. They reminisce on the good old days of adventure before reading the mail and discovering a potential bank to rob. "One last heist, eh?" one says to the other before both of them smile and the screen cuts to black.

Hire fans, or something

I've never regretted a GTA purchase (admittedly I didn't get the remasters so that might be why...) so I'm cautiously looking forward to this one. Started up 5 again recently with the Enhanced version dropping on PC and man its still stupid fun.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Apparently there is a lot more info about the game on the official site: https://www.rockstargames.com/VI

It's not loading at the moment but it contains some screenshots, character info, and confirms certain locations that will appear.

The trailer looked gorgeous, possibly the most photorealistic game we've seen yet. I know it was probably recorded on a PS5 Pro, but the fact that it looks this good on console is wild. Still lame that it won't release on PC at release.

75 million views on one day is insane

This is what people like. Nice

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't even care anymore.

I love GTAV and play Online almost everyday. But this bullshit about delays and more delays every year is just annoying as hell. How many years have they had to get this right?

I'm reminded of the quote "Don't let perfect get in the way of good." and I'm beginning to wonder if that's what's going on here? Are they delaying a good game because it's not "perfect" or are they just so incompetent that they have to keep going back to "fix" things???

And watch, when it does come out it'll be buggy as hell. Everyone will be asking "You've had all of this time. Why are there so many bugs?" and Rockstar will just shrug their shoulders all of the way to the bank.

Am I the only one who absolutely hates GTA?

It's bland as fuck and somehow people go and fucking play the same shitty mechanic game for hundreds of hours for 13 years, not even mentioning the fact that they buy it 3 fucking times.

It's not even out and I already absolutely hate this game and how everyone is hyping it to be next coming of Jesus when it's going to be EXACTLY the same as the other ones with crappy storyline and a basic af gameplay

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why are you here then?

Like I see posts about Anime all the time and that isn’t my thing, so you know what I do… I just pass on by and let people enjoy what they enjoy without trying to come off as superior or enlightened.

Good gravy the first few seconds looked like live action. Hope Matt Berry is in this one

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

I appreciate them putting their money where their mouth is after delaying the game to next year.

Hope to see running gameplay soon.
