I imagine there will be companion laws that make “existing as a trans or gay person around a child” sexual abuse.

Guaranteed that is the ultimate goal. Remember, they are still trying to label LGBT people, trans folks in particular, as pedos and groomers. I can take a lot of insults and bigotry hurled at me; I’ve got thick skin. But if anyone in public EVER calls me either of those words, I will fight them with everything I’ve got. I’d probably lose, but at least that person could not call me a coward as well.

I wish the cruelest ending possible upon any politician that actively works to legislate us away. All of them. And their supporters. Every last one.

If child welfare was the priority, they’d be doing something about DHS.

Oklahoma DHS refuses to investigate abuse allegations, and fires workers in retaliation for pointing out things like foster families forcing children to stay outside in freezing weather. (They will also retaliate if, say, you are a CASA and point out that the case worker assigned to a child has zero fucking clue where the child is lol. That retaliation involves spurious insinuations of child sexual abuse, which is why as a trans person who viewed the kid I advocated for as basically my daughter I had to give up on advocating for her for my own safety. Shits fucked and no one cares lol.)

Like I am at the point where I will Aaron Bushnell myself if it takes that to get someone to step in. It has literally drove me insane.

If you just beat the ass of everyone that says that malicious shit, eventually they'll stop or won't be able to speak anymore. This sounds like a win

One potential moral hazard with a law like this is that in some extreme cases it might turn rape into murder since the penalty is the same for both but by killing the victim one may decrease their chance of getting caught.

There will be exceptions for clergy, because they're not interested in actual pedophiles, just scapegoats.

In Oklahoma, it’s legal to marry at age 16 with permission from a parent, but minors who are even younger can wed with a court order from a judge in cases of pregnancy or to settle a paternity lawsuit.

Oh, great.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

Also keep in mind that it is impossible for minors to file for divorce - only adults can. So you can get coerced into marriage, and trapped.

I come from a long line of teenage mothers. It absolutely destroyed the mental health of all the women of my family. But when these people think of groomers and pedophiles, they don’t think of my mother, pregnant at fifteen by a guy twice her age - they think of a gay elementary teacher who mentions their husband in passing.

Watch parents in Oklahoma tell their kids to cry wolf every time they meet a trans person.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Yes - there’s an active harassment campaign against a transgender woman social worker on Facebook which is pretty horrific.

There are two states in this country that I have vowed to never step foot in. Texas is the first. Oklahoma became the second after I became friends with some people from there.

Word is Rep. Turner is trying to prevent any challengers to his record.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (4 children)

No one makes you live in Oklahoma.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Poverty can make it pretty hard to leave.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Coolworks. Com

Season of jobs, normally with housing.

I got out of a shit state that way

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Hard, yes. Impossible? No.

If anyone wants to leave, I suggest getting a job and a bank, a Starbucks, or a store like Nordstroms. They are usually pretty good at allowing you to transfer out of state.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sure, that can work for some people. Maybe even a lot of people. But not everyone.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not everyone gets a ride. Some people have to walk.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

Well that’s just not wheelchair accessible.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah - all of the sane people should leave, so that children can continue to be abused, the homeless can be murdered in Oklahoma County Jail (seven deaths this year), and all future children can be indoctrinated into believe that the 2020 election was stolen. That’ll fix things.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But all the sane people would be free.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

All the sane people who can afford to move.

Do you realize that low cost of living = you can’t save enough to leave? Do you think I’m here by choice? I’d love to be a fucking teacher again, but no one cares that it’s been no trannies allowed since Ryan Walters got in office lolz

If it’s so fucking easy, send me a couple k. That’s what I need to get out. Liquid cash. Lol.

Heck, just send me $200 so I can get a bed frame and stop sleeping on a rug bwahahaha. Bootstraps and all that.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No I don’t. And I’ll never have children, despite having desperately wanted that all of my life. I’ll sleep on the floor and pay the interest from the UberEats my ex and his prostitute racked up after torturing me, calling the cops, and having the cops and my own fucking lawyer laugh at the suggestion that a tranny removed could experience domestic violence.

Can you just shut the fuck up?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago

Ya know, I'm glad we're finally downvoting detached people like this.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

Moving isn't always easy, nor cheap.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

My literal billionaire ex taking advantage of court and police transphobia to ensure that I was saddled with his credit card debt makes me live in Oklahoma.

Yeah, I could be homeless somewhere else lol, instead of holding onto a shitty apartment where even if I can’t afford a fucking bed, the floor is warm enough lol.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My literal billionaire ex

his credit card debt

Is that first statement sarcasm or am I being stupid (which is possible. I am not a smart human)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Not sarcasm.

I had been told my name was on our house too lol.
