Makes me wonder though if Bush wouldn't've used more drones if they were cheaper and readily available earlier in his presidency. At the time, they were still incredibly expensive and unreliable.
No one in government cares how many collateral deaths there are when drones are used, as long as it reduces the number of Americans returning home in boxes. Keeping the voters happy is always the priority.

Explain why drones are any worse than any other kind of weapon. The people who get blown up are just as dead regardless.
Drones remove a human being from the chain, making it easier to kill more people more often because it's less real
This is anecdotal, but 22 years ago I attended an event where the US Air Force proudly played a video of a Predator drone strike. I was a teenager who avidly gamed, and felt horror at what I was forced to witness because I knew these were real people who were dying agonizing deaths
To this day I still feel the same emotions when I think of it, and I can't listen to Drowning Pool's "Bodies" because that's the song they played to accompany the footage

Yeah I'm not sure this is true, though I imagine it's only a matter of time. Anecdotally, but I know a guy who definitely has PTSD from, among other things, watching onscreen as such an automated weapon of war homed in on two combatants fleeing, closing in until finally one of them, looking over his shoulder directly at the camera, gave up and stopped running immediately before death.
Ha yeah for his peace efforts in the Middle East (or Near East for us Europeans) just to fuck up Trump more.

HOW MANY WARS DO I HAVE TO START TO GET A DAMN PEACE PRIZE.
He could try running the Russians out of Ukraine, stop Israel genociding and restarting USAID in Sudan, saving millions of lifes. There are many projects he could take on. But he is not even trying. It's difficult, i know. But if you want a medal; you need to at least participate.
This is an opportunity. Somebody needs to tell him that pulling the leash on Israel would guarantee the prize. We could have a parade at the awards ceremony. Red carpet, real celebrities, and everything.
It would still only be the second most embarrassing Peace Prize given to a sitting president.
If Trump would rein Israel in and stop the Gaza genocide and the war with Iran, and would put something tangible on the table to guarantee a two-state peaceful solution (like a DMZ with UN troops), I would think that despite his everything, I'd be okay to have him get a Peace Prize.
Stupid thing is, he is really in a position that no president in the past 5 decade at least found himself in, where he could actually do that with impunity, as he doesn't need Israeli funding to get reelected, and he doesn't give a fuck about getting anyone in his party reelected either.
Of course, this would need Trump to be both brave and smart, which he is not.
