When a stock price is all that matters, everything gets reduced to line items on a spreadsheet. That includes humanity.

This is unquestionably a good thing. But it's also kind of weird that it's Brasil of all places in on this, since the inequality there between the super wealthy and the folks living in the favelas is just an accepted part of life...kind of like the caste system in India.

I'm not saying that that's a good thing. I'm just saying that I wouldn't imagine the Brasilian authorities would actually give a shit considering the state of their own inequality and how it's just kind of taken as a "reality of life" down there.

Yes. They are proud.

I hate to tell you, but they're not covering their face out of a sense of shame; they're covering them in order to prevent retaliation from people who disagree with them. They have no shame about what they're doing.

If they are recognised and shunned, or refused service because of their actions, there's no shame or self-reflection. it's still the fault of the "damn libs". THAT'S why they cover their faces; because they know they're actions are unpopular and will get them retaliated against.

But knowing their actions are unpopular doesn't mean for a second that they're ashamed of those actions. On the contrary, the fuckers are proud to be doing Trumps dirty work.

The other side is already scouring obscure precedent to use to disqualify and deport him. So while this is great news, I won't hold my breath for any sort of actual election victory past the primary.

Going through the motions of elections right now feels very much pointless since only someone incredibly naive would think that the right has any intention of allowing elections to matter any more.

The sooner Americans realise that it's Let Them Eat Cake time the sooner they can move on with guillotine o'clock.

Peaceful protests, boycotts and sternly worded letters rely on the people you're protesting having a sense of shame. Which the right (and most of the left) no longer have.

I just use Syncthing. No cloud, just keeps any folders I choose on any devices synced with one another. Never had a problem, and while the files yes accessible on the internet technically, they're not stored anywhere except the devices that have access to them. Works like a charm.

And Hitler refused to believe until nearly the end that Operation Barbarossa was a failure.

Can we just skip to the part where Trump and Melania blow their fucking brains out in a bunker, please.

They don't care. It's not like those people are human to them, after all.

I usually move to Lineage once my two year warranty is up, just in case.

I know that by law hardware manufacturers can't deny hardware warranty based on your software (at least where I'm from...I worked in for one of the big three telco's up here in Canada)

But I'd rather not have that argument with the manufacturer, so I wait for it to run out. If my phone has a rom available I run that until the hardware dies and then I upgrade.

I feel like beyond the stupidity. Beyond the corruption. Beyond the narcissism and the self-aggrandising, the lying and the greed; it's never really talked about enough about how he's just a flat-out asshole he is.

Even if he were just some dude driving a pickup truck to a 9-5 job, his entire demeanour is just one of a mean-spirited shit-heel who would get his teeth kicked in at any bar in any "regular joe" town in the world.

In the absence of being able to switch to Graphene (Don't own a pixel), I've done everything I can to replace Google Apps with FOSS alternatives, and disabled Google Assistant on my device entirely.

I know none of that will stop a determined Google eventually fucking with me, but at least I'm trying.

I'm so damned tired of the modern corporate world.

At some point even he has to realize that he's a joke right?

Like even his syphillitic brain can't not see what's right in front of him forever, can it?

To other world leader's he's a joke. Someone who they can stroke his ego to get whatever they want, and then ignore him entirely and do whatever they feel like anyway.

"Israel..don't drop those bombs" Israel had no intention of listening to him. Russia had no intention of listening to him. They make his sense of self importance skyrocket and so they say whatever they need to say to get him to do whatever THEY want him to do, and then don't listen to him the rest of the time.

Is he really this fucking stupid?

On the bright side, if Trump says they obliterated something, it either means they totally missed, or it was lightly damaged at best. Fucker lies every time he opens his mouth. It's generally a safe strategy to go with the opposite of anything that pours out of that burger hole.

Anyone having a recent segmentation fault with GIMP 2.10.36 when closing a file without saving changes, the issue has been fixed and will be merged into the next point release. 2.10.38.

Putting this out into the community for anyone who needs it.

When I was first learning video editing, I had trouble finding good narrative content to practice with. There was plenty of stock footage, etc... but nothing scripted where you could craft a scene between two characters.

Cinestudy is the best for that. In fact I'm using footage from there for a book that I've been working on about narrative editing in Kdenlive.

One of the main things that I have been missing in Lemmy since moving over from the other site has been the myriad communities for the various bits of FOSS software I use on a regular basis.

Any any given day, I'll use Kdenlive, LibreOffice, Blender, Gimp and Scribus in the course of getting work done both personally and professionally, and I kept waiting for the day when I wouldn't have to go back to the other site to keep up to date with them.

While some (Blender) eventually got communities in the fediverse of their own, few are very active. So I felt that I should at least try to create my own in the hopes that it draws some activity.

So if you're joining because of a shared love of FOSS creative software, welcome. I'm hoping to post news and other articles from around the web, as well as being a place for questions and advice from user to user.

Maybe it'll be just as dead as all the others. But I hope not.

The tl;dr bot that pops up on every link to an article on Lemmy is depriving those websites of clicks, which deprives them of ad revenue.

The only thing that will accomplish is forcing those websites to do the very thing that we rail about; replacing their writers with crappy A.I because they can't afford to pay for actual content.

We rail against the enshitification of the internet, but when there's a legitimate way to fight back by giving these websites a page view/read/click etc... so that they can attract advertisers, we would rather have a bot summarize it for us, giving them nothing.

I feel like I've come a long way, but still feel like I have a long way to go before I feel truly good.

Stumbling a bit on how to get some animations to work correctly, (gauges and gear doors where the local axis doesn't line up with the global axis). But making some good progress on getting the details modelled in.

As the title says...

When is a level of detail considered "obsessive"? Asking for a friend.

Airspeed, Vertical speed, manifold pressure, RPM and fuel flow are all working as expected. Night lighting on the GPS and audio panel is working fabulously. There is night lighting on the center stack, but it's too subtle and will need some adjustments.

Manipulators are going to take a bit longer because I built a lot before really understanding how manipulators worked, so I have to go back and correct some things.

Congrats to him on getting his cup. Was always my favorite Senator. I've always believed that rather than building around a single superstar, teams should build around a trio of hardworking regular stars.

Trading EK...I was fine with it. But the team should have been built at that point around Captain Stone, Chabot and a promising young goalie.
