Donald Trump ripped into Iran and Israel for violating a ceasefire deal within hours of his triumphant announcement.

“You basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f--- they’re doing! Do you understand that?” he told reporters Tuesday morning on his way to the NATO summit in The Hague.

Who would have thought that bringing peace to the Middle East would be so difficult?!

[–] [email protected] 120 points 1 week ago (5 children)

His obsession with the Nobel peace price is really what's driving all this. He's been willing to do deals nobody else would make just to get that recognition, and it's ironically inflaming more conflict.

The best news I read is that his nomination was withdrawn so now he's extra yippy.

Pakistan hasn't withdrawn the nomination yet. It was just the Ukrainian who seemed a bit misinformed who withdrew it

If he wanted a Nobel peace prize he should have just committed genocide. That's what most of the others did.

Though Henry Kissinger is pulling a "Spiders Georg" and really skewing the numbers there.

I would think truly being a mediator would require not playing both sides of the negotiating table for your own ego inflation, but I’m no global affairs expert

WE understand that. Someone deluded themselves into thinking that a couple bombs would magically produce peace. This is not a Harry Potter movie, so Explosio Nocturna did not work.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

We have the biggest bombs, the best bombs. Everybody says we have the most powerful, beautiful, you know they can't make them in other countries these other places they don't even have water. Can you believe that? Imagine that no water but bombs, they make bombs. So we send our biggest and best, the most powerful military in the world, and they say oh no Mr President oh Mr Trump won't you please please not send the bombs but that's what it is folks. No water. And they're begging me, every day they're sending someone to beg at my feet for a ceasefire and I say ok! No more shooting. And that's how it works folks.

Everybody has understood that for decades.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And now Trump has understood it for half a day. Being the way he is, this is a "Nobody knew..." moment.

The odds of us experiencing a loser of this caliber again in our lifetimes is pretty slim.

Interestingly enough, the odds of me ever having a shred of respect for this country again in our lifetimes is also pretty slim.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The entire admin and half the country are losers of this caliber, you're drowning in them. Nice thought though.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Closer to a third. Maybe two thirds if you include the lazy fucks that couldn't be bothered to stand in line for a few minutes.

It's a word. I'm getting broken down by the amount of censorship on the internet, particularly Youtube. Their guidelines only state to withhold any uncensored cursing or content deemed only suitable for mature audiences for the first fifteen seconds, to avoid being tagged as mature and the video viewcount and profit largely reduced. A very small price to pay for freedom of human expression and life. But channels take this much further than the relatively mild corporation's rules, such as:

  • Censoring or obscuring all expletives deemed by Christianity to be foul
  • Censoring or obscuring all words describing a sensitive subject (e.g. rape, sex, sexual, abuse, murder, suicide, kill)
  • Censoring any moment in which a being is subject to any form of impact, whether accidental, assault or police abuse

These actively block and suppress conversing about real issues, leading to more harm, more assault, and more silent victims. Every time the word suicide is censored signifies to me that another person has committed suicide because they weren't heard. This has been proven to be correlation.

Censorship of human life, experience and expression not only insults my personal ideals of life and freedom, but actually causes more harm, and I cannot forgive that.

What makes swear words so offensive? It’s not their meaning or even their sound. Is language itself a red herring here?

Being Silenced: The Impact of Negative Social Reactions on the Disclosure of Rape

Censorship of words like ‘rape’ and ‘sexual assault’ on social media hurts victims more than it stops bad actors

Not that I don't like to see him miserable but if saying fuck counts as a meltdown, I meltdown every time I speak. Honestly, its not even a signifier of stress, its more likely to signal your being genuine

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 week ago (9 children)

How many times can you recall a president cursing when talking to reporters? Even Trump doesn't curse much in his tweets or press briefings. So it's definitely notable.

Context matters. Someone using profanity more often than they otherwise would in the same context is generally a signifier of stress or excitement.

nationalism gave us the hubris to think we were impervious to fascism. now we have a convicted felon rapist manbaby, completely immune to any consequence whatsoever, calling all the shots while our peaceful protesters are abducted by masked goons

barely 250 years. pathetic

Most MAGA don't care about women anyway. They view women as sub-human. Even the MAGA women defend this.

At some point even he has to realize that he's a joke right?

Like even his syphillitic brain can't not see what's right in front of him forever, can it?

To other world leader's he's a joke. Someone who they can stroke his ego to get whatever they want, and then ignore him entirely and do whatever they feel like anyway.

"Israel..don't drop those bombs" Israel had no intention of listening to him. Russia had no intention of listening to him. They make his sense of self importance skyrocket and so they say whatever they need to say to get him to do whatever THEY want him to do, and then don't listen to him the rest of the time.

Is he really this fucking stupid?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago (12 children)

That would probably happen as part of a narcissistic collapse. In the most extreme cases, it may trigger suicidal reactions.

Muslims and Jews have been fighting each other for nearly 3000 years.

If anyone thinks they're going to be the one person who can stop that conflict, they're absolutely delusional.

Almost like announcing something on "truth" social doesn't automatically make it the truth. They probably didn't even know anything about a cease fire until his post.

It's a Good Thing he WASNT wearing a Tan Suit while dropping F bombs! THAT would have been Disrespectful!

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

Someone should probably explain to this moron that a tweet saying, "We'll stop bombing them if they stop bombing us" doesn't count as a "ceasefire deal".

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Fucking idiot
