I want to see what happens we just have mob lynchings of politicians if their approval drops to below 50%.

Maybe the world would become a utopia?

"I'm not a fan of murdering women, people of color, and LGBT people, but I still believe that Trickle Down Economics work! Long Live Capitalism!"

Or maybe it's Arnold Schwarzenegger who still want to pretend the repepublican party still exists and play RINO. Like... Dude just leave already, its a nazi party. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ (Maybe he's doing a deep-cover Terminator Infiltration? πŸ€”)

Best you'll get is Garland v2: Electric Boogaloo

FFS, if a Dem gets into power DONT FUCK IT UP! PROSECUTE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW

(oh wait, forgot about the pre-emptive pardons πŸ˜“, thanks, whoever wrote the constitution, what a stupid rule, pardons? what are we, a Monarchy?)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Setting the US Constitution on fire using the power of the conservative fist.

Cash me outside John.

I'm gonna rap battle you so hard, and make your blood boil, you'll have another stoke again. Then I'll be in the headlines, Philly Man defeats a sitting US Senator via rap battle. I win the Dem special primary by unanimity because nobody dares to go against me.

There, me, Senator from PA (Class III seat), serving until 2029 (but I might run again πŸ˜‰)

(Am I being ridiculous? Well the simulation broke down so this Philly Man is the best you get as champion of Democracy, sorry 😁)

Freedom of the Press still exist

Exhibit A: The journalist that just exposed the government fucked up on OPSEC, and their attempt to shield their communications from official records as mandated by law, via the use of Signal

Not completely fascist, yet.

Then one day, out of nowhere, you'll hear a bunch of helicopters hovering, sirens wailing, your browser says "Unable to connect", calls get dropped, SMS says "undeliverable", phone says "Emergency Only" instead of the carrier name. Then you'll go to the grocerry store and on the way there, you see a bunch of soldiers with a roadblock thing and... it's a checkpoint...

...aaand enjoy! This is the Bad Place (now the actual Bad Place)

The auto-coup will not be televised (not for those within the regime anyways.

If I saw this as a plot of a Movie/TV show, I'd think it's ridiculous and not watch it.

This is just bizzare and absurb, this simulation is broken.

There are 1.4 Billion people behind 2 walls, the infamous firewall of censorship, and, most importantly, the language barrier.

My parents are in the US, so the first wall is gone, but they still have the second wall, and they don't want to leap over that wall and continues to use their walled garden Wechat with their corporate algorithms and privacy intrutions like facebook/instagram.

Lemmy is mostly only advertised in Reddit, so most Lemmy users are former Reddit users. And since Reddit is mostly European / North American, the same trend follows.

I went to the statue of liberty once and I got the special coin thiny with that thing written on it. It felt so cool. (I lost it πŸ˜“, but still, it was cool when I had it)

Now I look at the statue and it makes me feel depressed.

Reminds of the the Man in the High Castle TV series promotional poster thing:

(Its not actually in the show, just a promotional poster)

Great TV Show btw, go watch it, it is very depressing but it's worth watching to see just how fucked up the world could look like. "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing"

You see a 1 minute clip right before they die. You have their real names (and any aliases), but that's all the info you have. You don't know their exact location, not even the country, nor their occupation, or whether they are a "good" or "bad" person. Their death is 99% guaranteed to happen unless you help them avert their death.

They will always be located at least 1/3 of the Earth's circumference away from you, so it means they will be guaranteed to not be within 13,333KM of your location at the moment you get the premonition.

What do you do with this knowledge? Try to save them? Or feel the guilt of their death forever, that you might've been able to prevent?

Arrest of Opposition's (Presumptive) Candidate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrest_of_Ekrem_%C4%B0mamo%C4%9Flu

On 19 March 2025, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu from the opposition Republican People's Party was arrested by Turkish police for alleged corruption, extortion, bribery, money laundering and supporting terrorism, particularly the PKK. His arrest, along with that of more than 100 other people, caused widespread protests and demonstrations.

Since November 2024, AKP actions against opposition representatives heated up. On 18 March 2025, Istanbul University annulled İmamoğlu's degree, citing irregularities. As Turkey's presidential candidates must hold an university degree, this would effectively block him from running for president. The decision came just days before the opposition party was set to nominate him.

On one hand, its easier for a spy to communicate with their handlers.

On the other hand, mass surveillance make it more difficult for the spy to hide their activities and thus make it easier for them to get caught.

Apparantly, some Lemmy user says I shouldn't have been born? 🀨

Think about like the worse of the worst. Dictators, war criminals, etc...

Especially those who never got punished in their past life when the crimes were conmitted.

Inspired by the recent c/AskLemmy question about Myanmar.

As a PRC-born ethnic Han-Chinese person who currently is a US Citizen and reside in the US, I'm curious on what people think of my former country.

Bruh πŸ’€

Like, say, you are a revolutionary who's imprisoned, but you are allowed to write letters to your family. How would you covertly send a message to your fellow revolutionaries that only they can decode? (Your family are on your side will pass the letter along)

Obviously, it cannot appear to contain any obvious ciphertext, since the prison guards would just rip up your letter and not send it.

I'm wondering if I should just delete lemmy to stay under the radar. πŸ€” (I'm a US Citizen currently residing in the US, and moving out of the country is not really an option)

I feel so conflicted on this. On one hand, this is kinda like giving in to authoritarianism, but on the other hand, dissenting is kinda dangerous. πŸ˜“

The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed by a Congress controlled by the Federalist Party, directed against the Democratic-Republicans, the party typically favored by new citizens. Only Democratic-Republican journalists were prosecuted by these laws. Publicity from Sedition Act trials caused massive criticism and contributed to the Federalists being removed from power in the 1800 election.

The acts were supported by the Federalist Party, and supporters argued that the bills strengthened national security during the Quasi-War, an undeclared naval war with France from 1798 to 1800. The acts were denounced by Democratic-Republicans as suppression of voters and violation of free speech under the First Amendment. While they were in effect, the Alien and Sedition Acts, and the Sedition Act in particular, were used to suppress publishers affiliated with the Democratic-Republicans, and several publishers were arrested for criticism of the Adams administration. The Democratic-Republicans took power in 1800 because of backlash to the Alien and Sedition Acts, and all but the Alien Enemies Act were eliminated by the next Congress. The Alien Enemies Act has been invoked several times since, particularly during World War II by President Roosevelt. These laws were used to imprison over tens of thousands of noncitizens of German, Italian, and Japanese descent, all known as "Enemy Aliens."

The Alien Enemies Act was mentioned by President Donald Trump during a campaign rally held at Madison Square Garden for the 2024 presidential election, claiming that he would use them to remove illegal immigrants operating within gangs and criminal networks on "day one" if he were to win the presidency by invoking the acts. After being sworn in as President on January 20, 2025, he mentioned it again during his inaugural address.

On March 15, 2025, Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act to authorize the deportation of Venezuelan suspected gang members to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in El Salvador. Trump's executive order was temporarily blocked the same day by Judge James Boasberg, following a lawsuit seeking to stop the deportations.
