Michigan and Minnesota. With California and NY (50/50) state, GDP of Canada could be higher than remaining US.

They’ll just bring their brand of crazy to our politics and culture.

The sentiment is probably related to escaping that politics and culture.

There is likely high variance per state. Secession is definitely an easier path than a vote splitting alternative to DNC to escape their zionisist first agenda, which has so far meant supporting Trump in only important vote.

Making cars/everything expensive for all Americans in the hope of more localized jobs in 5 years is a big ask for everyone not getting those jobs, or for complete failure with severe recession.

Stock indexes, typical stocks, are down about 10% from highs around that period.

mass deportations

that is the problem. Deport as much mass as possible. Guidance around "deportation of criminals" can mean more "mass" if defined as any objectionable/unknown tattoo, instead of a narrower mandate of specific known gang affiliation tattoos. That would still be a problem in that a tattoo is not a criminal conviction.

Pro, if I do say so myself, tip: Do not insert the balls. Leave them out and slapping.

I hope they use more export tariffs than retaliation (import) tariffs. Increasing prices in US has more impact than them losing sales, and especially if we're boycotting even non-tariffed products.

In the end, tariffs are terrible for unity. Cooperation between nations. But, Alberta may care about its oil profits more than about Ontario employment. The same happens in US though. You have a trade deficit with your barber, and shouldn't care that much. But paying $5k-$10k more for a car to support policy that will supposedly create more jobs in Michigan, in 5 years, doesn't have huge appeal to non Michigan auto workers.

Every year since 2008, the US has had a overall trade surplus excluding energy and at an average of about $30B. Energy is good, especially when it is provided at a discount.

It is dumb to "force Canadians" to never buy US products. It also means losing Canada as a military client. When you have a trade surplus, then even if all Canadian production were to be replaced for US production, it is a net loss in US production. Less total sales by US firms.

Section is towards middle. They don't disclose how much the surplus is, but the obvious conclusion is that if Canadians never buy another US made vehicle, then it is a net reduction in jobs/revenue for US makers even if entire Canadian auto sector is destroyed. It is a significant ask for US investment if end result is losing money/US jobs for it.

It's not worth celebrating if he just stops saying it out loud. Still, unclear if he just understands whatever last person he talked to says, or if it was productive because Carney caved on everything.

It's the scrambling of the eggs that hurts the baby.

Carney/Joli statements:

Negotiate military/trade relationship after election. Retaliatory tariffs still happen on April 2. Lutnick/Leblanc intensive discussions to happen in meantime.

At a minimum, US needs to announce USMCA compliant trade is exempt (nearly all auto trade?). There still hasn't been retaliation for steel/alumnium tariffs, but permanent USMCA exemption, is path to leverage Canadian cost advantage for future auto plants/shift increases.

The disingenous harrassment on this issue is that "The US must continue to hate Iran because of their successful coup on the Shah, and Iran never congratulated the US for the favour". Hate against Iran today, since 1999/2001, is pure and simple, part of service to Israel agenda.

Link is Cleveland cliffs closing 2 iron mines. Demand from Canada is a factor.

Nucor, US Steel, and Cleveland Cliffs have all forecasted bigger losses for next quarter despite the extortion pricing that tariffs give them. Narrative is that steel using US manufacturing will not take off as promised.

Canadian policy needs to make sure that damage is maximized.

What is Canada/Ontario doing?

Best technology for coal electricity capture costs $10/watt (close to new on budget nuclear plants), and only captures 65% of emissions. A better "free" climate strategy would be to put them in "backup peaker" mode for renewables and run them at far less than 35% of year.

DAC can work only if price of carbon is $300/ton ($3/gallon gasoline). Still, 100% renewables is cheapest path to avoiding those taxes, but afterwards, DAC can hope to pay for itself.

He should also put export tariffs on electricity to lower demand/price of PQ electricity (or subsidize their electricity from tariff proceeds) that is main cost of aluminum production. Buying a strategic reserve of Aluminum will keep factories open, and allow better deals/pricing for "allies" or new friends, or later dumping on US when they end the trade war.

GOP support for Trump are calling his extortionist war "negotiating for fair trade".

Obviously, protectionist survival policies are needed, regardless of WTO rules, USMCA, which are being broken under false national emergency pretexts.

Military cooperation with US needs to end, until they stop calling extortion trade fairness.

Also, this is permanent. April 2nd will have reciprocal tariffs, but not on USMCA compliant trade.

What Canadian US trade is not USMCA compliant?

Canada unfairly, being totally taken advantage of, defends the USA from missiles and aircraft attack through Arctic, with its early warning RADAR system, possible secret missile bases, and expensive substandard F35 purchases and other aircraft donations.

When US declares a fake "national emergency" to break its trade agreements, it is an act of war. "There is nothing Canada/Mexico can do to address the fake national emergency, and the small trade imbalance is unfair, and we can use economic extortion to take Canada's sovereignty" is a rulership intent on war.

Canada needs to remove US military alliance today. It needs to stop following US propaganda to demonize the adversaries the US tells us to believe are Canada's adversaries. Normal humanist peaceful relations with Russia means Russia is no threat to Canada, and NORAD only serves US empire's global extortion with "veil of immunity". Whenever immunity from blowback is shown to be a false shield, then history starts on that day and "they only hate us for our freedom" is propagandized.

Official preparations for better trade with China and Mexico need to be started today. Leadership visits to those countries needed today. If EU wants to help instead of cowering in fear, they need to send their leaders to visit Canada.

Both Canada and EU need to take stance that US must pay significantly more for NATO's assistance in projecting US empire, instead of tolerating the BS that they are the ones that must pay 150% more for privilege of US diminishing them all, as the US has done with Ukraine war.
