We had blackberries and had the same problem, in our case though we had critters getting berries and either dropping or crapping out the seeds all over our yard, which sprouted for more than a year after we pulled up the main plant.

It looks like you've got a good set up but it might be good to try some kind of netting or screens to keep out animals so they don't spread seeds.

Way back when Inconvenient truth came out Al Gore come to my university to do his lecture on it. I was on the fence at the time about kids, but came out of there thinking there was no point to having kids who may not survive or have to live some post-apocalyptic underground bunker nonsense.

My sister works in environmental policy and I called to tell her about the lecture and told her i don't know why anyone should even bother having kids. She was more optimistic than I expected and said there's a lot of good work going on to fix things and that I shouldn't give up hope. She went on to have two kids of her own and still works in the field. But about 15 years since we first talked about it, things are considerably more bleak and when Trump won she thought about getting out entirely.

I never had kids and have no regrets (for multiple reasons). But especially now I could not fathom having the level of optimism about the future I would need to feel secure in having kids.

Every time I get a cold and have to stand in line for sudafed I think about how meth has inconvenienced me in a (relatively minor) but super annoying way. I think I'd rather people do weed or coke so I can shop unobstructed.

Interesting read. I didn't know Firefox was so completely dependent on search revenue, though it makes sense. Hope the courts and FTC work out something that preserves it.

Happy to help! It made me wish I had a 3d printer at home to try them too :)

Throwing a few random ones out there-

One that looks like a city building, so the plants would look like it had a rooftop garden

A spider with the legs as the stand and the body holding a pot (or the body could be a pot that looks like a spider)

Similarly, a whale with plant area where the blowhole is, so the plant is like the water spraying out

Tetris blocks that connect but each have plant holders in them in thr top or on small shelves in the front.

Hope this gets creative juices flowing. Please share what you end up making!

Just stumbled upon this 17-min film by David Lynch on Netflix and I think it's the closest I'll ever be to tripping on acid.

I feel like there's some kind of punchline or meaning that I'm missing, but maybe it's just absurdits for its own sake.

Thoughts on this film?

Great cast, looks fun. I wonder how much it will resemble War of the Roses. (I assumed the title is a reference to that film.)

Oh my God this is so f-ing true. It makes me think a lot of sociology classes I took in college where we'd talk about the artificiality of money how it's only meaningful because we have collectively decided it is. The folks who try to make it all scientific with lots of elaborate analytics and complex charts are basically just engaging a social math exercise.

Having lived in STL for about 10 years now, I know a ton of Boeing people. Every single one of them who's still there hates it, and the others got away as quickly as they could. It's somewhat universally known as a shit show in town, but I'm confident that info doesn't make it to college students or new grads. The universities benefit too much from Boeing.

Hi all! Can you help me diagnose my basil plant?

I just got one of those "grow your own" herb plants from the grocery so my expectations were pretty low, and it's already done way better than expected.

I originally thought it was pollen from it flowering but I only had the one flower left after trimming and this stuff is everywhere. I've always grown basil outside and this time thought I'd try putting it in a window box (with cilantro and rosemary in case that matters) but I've not seen this before.

Is this something to worry about? If so what's a good way to treat it?

Is anyone actually surprised by this?

ADP is showing this on all hr applications now- I've encountered it a few times and always hesitate before choosing. I don't want my resume to go even further down the vortex and feed an AI model but maybe opting out just eliminates you altogether from consideration.

Have you seen this before? How have you handled it?

This employer may use an artificial intelligence algorithm to provide an initial comparison of an applicant's education, experience, and skills against the education, experience and skill requirements in the job description. This analysis produces a Profile Relevancy score, which is intended to be one of many factors that a potential employer will review in making its interview decisions; there are no cut off scores and all applications are visible to employers. The Profile Relevancy score for applicants who opt out will be listed as "Not Available."

Should be titled: Jaguar takes the wrong lesson from Tesla's Cybertruck.

I know it's a bit different from the typical movie review/analysis but thought this was an interesting take on a great Thanksgiving day classic.

I know this is basically the same as burning money, but I found this funny and I've got $7.99 burning a hole in my pocket...

I'm doing a month-long series of campy, classic and unique horror movies. I'm pretty liberal in what gets included, trying for a lot of variety. I'm particularly a fan of spooky comedies (like the Burbs), and generally avoiding big franchise horror series to see more unique stuff.

I'm enjoying seeing so many movies I would never come across any other way, even if many of them aren't all that great. So far my favorite is probably Cabin in the Woods or Happy Death Day.

Anything I should add to the list?

Watched (in order)

The Burbs Batman Death Becomes Her Slotherhouse Cabin in the Woods Happy Death Day Llamageddon The Thing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies The Final Girls Attack of the Killer Donuts Drag Me to Hell Ernest Scared Stupid Final Girl Killer Sofa
