Addendum, that 'similar temperatue on high load' is because it's thermal throttled at that point. See that it went from 2.9GHz to 1.6GHz. It won't ever reach 100 degrees or close to that because of this safety feature.
That's a bit hot for idle, yes. Probably a good time to clean out the fans and apply new thermal paste.

Where to begin... You should get familiar with Obsidian first and just use it and see what features you are missing and want to add. It's sooo easy to get into the plugins rabbit hole. 😅
That said, I use quite a few QoL plugins. My three main ones are:
- File Tree Alternative to replace the default file explorer with.
- Dataview for displaying tables with (meta)data from your notes.
- Tag Wrangler for easily mass-editing the tags.
