Read more books. Seriously. Having a fresh batch of words to draw upon helps me a lot.

Having words is not the problem. I have all the words, the best words, big beautiful words, they're just stored somewhere in a very logical place for them to be that I don't remember and I don't want to use the fresh ones coming in because look at them they're shiny and new don't touch them. (I feel weird using words I just read because I get self-conscious. It doesn't make sense, no.)
