Even the ones with hoops instead of hooks can be removed (in my experience, anyway). Super awkward otherwise.
I believe I did stay at one property where they weighed cost of the inconvenience as lower than the cost of the theft - completely locked to the rod
Bring a set of tools and take the hangers and the rod too, just for spite
Just one simple trick. Hotel owners hate this.
Usually in a place that classy it's so you can't hang yourself.

I've also always thought that was a cost/theft issue, but I wonder if its also to prevent people from trying to use the hook-type hangers from hanging things from fire suppression sprinkler heads.
Good point. I recently stayed somewhere with a bolted sign by the sprinkler heads that said not to hang anything on them, lol. Makes me think it happens...a lot.
Just bring a pair of side cutters with you. Snip snip and you’re good to go!

Also at hotels while traveling .... ask for a better room or any upgrades. Worst thing anyone will say is no.
But if you're lucky to run into a manager in a good mood or even the owner, they'll give you something just for asking.
I had a guy try to stab me because I asked. I'd categorize that as worse than no.
If that happened to me at a hotel .... I'd give up my prebooked room and leave, no matter the cost ... definitely not a hotel I'd want to stay in.
I also made it up, just to provide an example of something worse that could happen. But probably never will.
Thats just the usual hotel experience
The sheets were clean. And i got a free fridge magnet.

They might at least not put you next to the hourly rentals

many hotels cheap out and have crappy curtains that are designed in such a way that it can't be overlapped
which means they also don't have cloth hangers with clips so you need to pack one each time...
I’m traveling right now and will do this when I get back to my hotel.

They used a hanger to keep closed those useless curtains that are in a lot of hotels.
Your mom, Ronald McDonald, and a barrel of tartar sauce are just out of frame. I'd look away son.
I travel with a couple of binder clips for exactly this reason. I never thought of using a hanger with clips though!
The best hotel room hack I know lets you unlock the AC so you can get some actual cool air.

Done this many times. It helps so much when you don't need to be up at the crack of dawn.
I've never needed this. But I feel like those for witch this is mind blowing could also have paid a couple of bucks for a clamp from the hardware store and put that in their luggage.
why do that when those are there for free and hardly used? I guess it is better to have your own clamps, in case the particular hotel you might be staying at has different types of hangers that don't have clamps.
Yes everyone remembers the niche circumstance-specific irritation when they get back home, especially those who hotel infrequently.

Great tip! My biggest issue is usually that the curtains themselves barely block any light. Light leaking between them tends to be a secondary issue.
