No I use it, and I am sincerely regretting logging out, cause I was afraid this was going to happen, but based on my searches, this is a multiple year long problem that lacks a solution. Was hoping our people had found a way.
Also get a password manager of some kind. Keepass and Bitwarden are both great. Never have this problem again.
So, isn't it inherently unsafe to utilize things like that? No tone to that question, truly asking. I am familiar with such things, but if it's someone else's code, can't it eventually be taken?
They're secure. Absolutely more secure than going without. I know a total of about two passwords, which are used in only two places.

Keepass uses a file you keep on your own computer, encrypted, with two passwords. One password (a keyfile) is stored on your disk. The other you remember. With that much security, you can give someone your password database and it's unlikely they'll ever open it. If you're ultra paranoid, you use keepass.
Bitwarden is more convenient, more user friendly, and stored in the cloud. It's open source and audited. If someone breached Bitwarden, it'd be huge news.
Not having a password manager, besides being a huge pita, is more of a security risk. I bet you use the same password on different sites, maybe with a variation based on the domain name. You likely often have trouble remembering passwords, and might try several passwords if your first try fails. All this is information you could be giving away if the site is compromised.
I never forget a username or password anymore. If the site tells me I'm wrong, I know it's them and not me.
Plus Passkeys are pretty great and are starting to be supported.
Well, I imagine that you can try asking the instance admin, see if they're willing to do something, but I don't expect that there will be a magic back door short of that, else people would use it to break into accounts.
EDIT: It's also kind of generic advice, but if you are pretty sure that you registered your email account with it, you could try checking any spam filtering system that you or your mail provider use. Like, that reset email might be in a "Spam" mailbox somewhere.
Genuinely appreciate the effort friend. Yes to all you suggested, I'm scouring all my email folders and what not. The old, original confirmation that got me started is still there, but still no dice for accessing or resetting the password. Still no further emails received. Sad face.
You need to contact your mastodon instance admins.
Were you able to contact the admins of your mastodon instance? For example, for mastodon.social it's on their "about" page. I say this bc it might be a bug in their "reset email" service that they're not aware of.
Instance admins were responsive and helpful. Figured out the problem, and I sincerely thank everyone who contributed!
