Yes, it was definitely the fault of the people protesting genocide and telling the democrats the things they're doing are incredibly unpopular, stop trying to be republicans, and not the democrats who told us to fuck off.
Really, if nobody protested, genocide would have been super popular and Kamala definitely would have won.

Protestors made a poor decision. Despite protesting for the right reasons the consequences will be more harmful to those they sought to stand up for.
This was not an unforeseen consequence, everyone with a brain was screaming it from the rooftop, and now here we are.

If it was unforeseen, why do I keep seeing liberals blaming the people who spent 4 years screaming what would happen from the rooftop, while the democrats spent 4 years either trying to be republicans or whining about how powerless they were instead using every measure at their disposal to do what the people whose votes they need are telling them to do?
It took trump all of a day to enact hundreds of life-changing policies. Don't give me some horseshit about how the president of the united states was powerless.

You can't always get what you want, and sometimes you get what you don't want. Knowing when is the right time to take action is just as important sometimes as taking action.
All this protest did was end up with Palestinians in an even worse spot.
I said it was NOT unforeseen. People knew that these protests would suppress democratic voters, and would be unlikely to sway the current administration. They protested anyways knowing that could cause a Trump victory. Now by the time the next election comes around, there may not be a Palestinian people for the Democratic party to support.
This situation is the textbook definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Cutting off someone else's nose, in this case, which is worse.

I really don't think the protestors should be the ones worried about their immortal soul for their behavior regarding the genocide debate.
Why not?
If you think about this from an individual perspective, if you go out to a protest, and by doing so block an ambulance from getting to a patient leading to their death. Morally, that death is on you.
This isn't any different, by protesting you caused an electoral result that led to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Being part of a group does not absolve you of the results that group causes.

Even weeks after October 7th, I had libs demanding I pledge to vote blue whether they stop the genocide or not, even though the election was a year and a half away, instead of standing with us and demanding they stop the wildly unpopular thing they're doing.
I think deep down, you all understood that the democrats will never do what the people want, even if they know it will cost them the election.

The good news for the "We told you so crowd" is that by the next election, we won't have to. Either it'll be so far away that none of us will live to see it, or it'll happen as scheduled but there won't be a Gaza/Palestine for you to use as justification for letting the worse candidate win.

commented this elsewhere, but the general idea is that by showing that an important contingent of the left won't vote for a pro genocide president, the democrats will have no choice but to run a candidate that is electable in the future.
this means that trump might be president in 2024. That sucks, but most of the damage has already been done (supreme court, senate, etc). Might as well show the dems that they have to run a candidate that supports the rights of civilians all around the globe

Trump winning is a DIRECT result of election interference and years of gerrymandering and voter suppression.
Biden won in 2020. He did so by appealing to the left, bringing the left into the DNC coalition, and growing a coalition to win.
Harris pivoted to the right from the positions of the 2020 Democratic platform. She picked Liz Cheney as the person to bring into stage, and to give a DNC five minute talking spot to a Republican war hawk instead of a Gazan, actual DNC delegate.
Harris MADE these decisions. And it was fucking stupid. And it was stupid then. It was obvious where the voters were. She CHOSE not to go get them.

That's not voter suppression. It's a failure of leadership on the part of Democrats for the duration of the Biden presidency, and a refusal on the part of Harris to acknowledge and chart a new course.
The DNC campaigned to fail in 2024, and it was obvious the entire time.
If they make it physically harder to go out and vote, such as closing polling stations, if they use misinformation campaigns those will affect the turn out. Yes Kamala not having a Palestinian go on to talk was deplorable, she should have done more. However trump said he would be a dictator on day one, deport immigrants, and tons of other fascist shit and those same people you said couldn't even turn up to vote for their own party were ok with what trump was going to do.

How the Democrats campaigned was not the sole cause of Trump winning. Anti-democracy oligarchs, some foreign and some not, some of which control social media, had more to do with it. In my view, whoever the Dems fielded as a candidate, we would have seen a very similar result unless those other causes were very decisively addressed.

The right loves him because he reduced the rates of crime in El Salvador.
Problem is that his approach was to just throw everything that moves in a slightly funny way in jail. This does admittedly reduce crime, but in a similar way to how a nuclear bomb really is the most effective crime reduction tool - if you kill everyone on the planet, no one can commit any crimes, hence the crime rate will be 0.
