Oh, Did Russia withdraw from Ukraine? Why are we ending this punishment? /s

[–] [email protected] 43 points 1 month ago

How silly!

That moment when you say what will the attorney general do on their first day? Appease Russian Oligarchs. Okay...

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

well, this was expected, right? i mean, you know one of the side effects of trump becoming president is russia annexes ukraine, just gets the whole fucking thing, and publicly executes it's current leadership and enslaves it's populace, right?

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Just as Putin commanded him to do. Trump is a Kremlin asset.

I studied the cold war in school; I could have never imagined that one day the US would be controlled by Russia, but here we are.

I'm laughing but also crying 😩

Kremlin asset.

Anyone thinking this is done for the good of the USA should really stop doing drugs

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

Maybe rename it to Injustice Department.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is one of the main goals, hidden by the flood of everything else.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

Well it was the attorney generals first day. And she ordered this and to disband the team that looks into Russian election interference in the u.s.

I’ve worked on DEI company groups before, all employee led. I can see some awkward argument around preferential treatment / reverse racism / whatever stupid term they want to use to cover bigotry. But internal employee groups that help build community are not causing the egg prices to go up. This is a waste of time and resources. Doesn’t the AG have more important tasks, like putting kids in cages or something?

Did you mean to post this comment in response to the post about Russian oligarch asset seizure?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah. Why are people upvoting something that doesn’t even apply to the story?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I think the bots have arrived in force. Maybe Trump and Musk were so confident about their win prior to November 6th because they had an army of LLM bots online shaping everyone's opinion.

Just half? What about the other half then!?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

They all left the middle spot blank thinking a free space still existed in this world

Good thing, Democratic youth stayed home and didn't vote for "Genocide Joe", and the majority of you here on Lemmy said at the time, "yes, understandable, good show, damn israel, do not vote for anyone you carrent not to my good people of the university commons, spread the world far and wide on national television, every fucking night, all spring and all summer and all fall in an election year, disrupt democratic candidates on the election trail, do it all, i bless you and keep you dears to my very own heart, you rapscallions"

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, no one voted for"Genocide Joe" because Biden was not in the election. I'm sure there were a number of people, though, who abstained from voting for Harris because she also did not represent their wishes for the situation in Palestine, though to me that feels like being a single issue voter.

I don't understand the quote or run-on sentence of yours. People should indeed try and campaign for candidates they believe align with their ideals of governance.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

though to me that feels like being a single issue voter.

There were a lot of those, and many of them are still defending that choice in the face of everything happening.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Good thing the Democrats decided that appeasing a foreign government was more important than representing their own citizenry and winning the election. Their part in this whole thing was entirely their own choice.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Especially those people who claimed "it's the most important election in our lifetime." They should be outraged that Biden and then Harris, knowing what was at stake, chosen to ignore their base and the American people in favor of some wholly corrupt foreign government. This was low hanging fruit that they left to rot.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So they're going back to strongly worded letters? Maybe the icc?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

doubt it he is also sanctioning the ICC.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I wonder how much the program actually seized. Imagine if we took all that money and used it to help people.

Just kidding, we probably built like 2 F-35s.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

$300 billion in Russian assets between the U.S. and Europe. Most is in Europe of course, as most yaughts don't sail across the Atlantic and sit

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not sure if same program but didn't we send alot of money to Ukrane that was seized Russian funds?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Looks like yes - the G7 seized about 325B and the interest yielded was the basis for the 20B sent to Ukraine. I fear that now, it'll just get returned to their owners.
