RFK is a dangerous lunatic. The only things he would use that data for that I can think of are inhumane „experiments“ on no scientific basis and mass sterilizations. This is bad. This is very very bad.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I've yet to actually see any talks about mass sterilizations or anything like that. That's a crime against humanity and not sometimes that is likely to happen without resistance. It is also good that we have laws like HIPPA that protect user data. I think we need more collective action as individually we are weak. I'm not saying that crimes against humanity are impossible but I do think panicking and stressing a group that already has mental heath issues doesn't accomplish much.

One thing I've learned about the Autistic community is that we are all very resilient and can be very head strong when necessary. I think as a group we can do a lot as a many Autistic people are some of the nicest and most selfless people you will meet. I'm not sure what the future holds but we can face it together.

"The idea of the platform is that the existing data resources are often fragmented and difficult to obtain. The NIH itself will often pay multiple times for the same data resource. Even data resources that are within the federal government are difficult to obtain,"

Yeah, there's a reason for that.

Medication records from pharmacy chains, lab testing and genomics data from patients treated by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Indian Health Service, claims from private insurers and data from smartwatches and fitness trackers will all be linked together, he said. The NIH is also now in talks with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to broaden agreements governing access to their data

So all those promises that our medical data is sacred were just lies, got it.

In addition, a new disease registry is being launched to track Americans with autism, which will be integrated into the data.

Preparatory steps to shipping people with autism off to camps.

Between 10 and 20 outside groups of researchers will be given grant funding and access to the records to produce Kennedy's autism studies. Bhattacharya did not give details on how they would be chosen, but said their selection would be "run through normal NIH processes."

Yeah, right, lmao.

the research they will back using the data will be "the highest quality proposals" that will range "from basic science to epidemiological approaches, to other more applied approaches" to treat and manage autism.

Yeah, it's the 'other, more applied approaches' that'll send people to camps.

He also acknowledged autism's wide variation in how it affects people. "I recognize, of course, that autism, there's a range of manifestations ranging from highly functioning children to children that are quite severely disabled. And of course the research will account very carefully for that," he said.

The research might (I doubt it), but the people using it won't. They'll use DOGE- and ICE-like levels of discrimination to target everyone they can.

While the selected researchers will be able to access and study the private medical data, Bhattacharya said they will not be able to download it. He promised "state of the art protections" to protect confidentiality.

Fucking bullshit lies, that is.

By bringing the data into one place, he said it could give health agencies a window into "real-time health monitoring" on Americans for studying other health problems too.

Yeah, that's not scary, either.

"What we're proposing is a transformative real-world data initiative, which aims to provide a robust and secure computational data platform for chronic disease and autism research," he said.

I bet you had AI generate that meaningless slop, didn't you. Sounds good, but meaning fucking nothing. Fucking Nazis.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The first group of people the Nazis exterminated was the disabled. When nobody pushed back they started exterminating other groups

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Guess it's gonna happen again, because the Americans love letting this happen.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

I say we start with a brain worm registry

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

I've been protesting every week since Feb, hbu?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Can we not autoplay videos please?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It doesn't autoplay for me. What Lemmy client are you using?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Same, and I'm using a Firefox based browser.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Web browser.

Please change your link. This is an autism comm. People have AV sensitivities.

Edit: to clarify please remove the embed link in your post as it auto plays for those using browser who want to read or make comments. Keep the article so people can discuss it's merits if they choose.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Sorry but if you don't like autoplay, it's your responsibility to disable that on your device. Here's how to do it in firefox:

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Go to Settings:

    • Click the menu button (three horizontal lines in the top-right).
    • Select Settings (or Preferences on macOS/Linux).
  3. In the left sidebar, select Privacy & Security.

  4. Scroll down to the Permissions section.

  5. Next to Autoplay, click Settings.

  6. Change the dropdown at the top to Block Audio and Video.

  7. Click Save Changes.

This hasn't been working for me for some time in Firefox for Android.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I just followed those steps and it worked perfectly on the OP link. Then I switched it back and got autoplay again.

The path on android is hamburger menu > settings > privacy and security > site settings > autoplay

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Yup, I know where it is.
I have also cleared exceptions list, cleared cache, reinstalled, but it still bugs out and this video still autoplays for me.
I might try the nightly build ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sheesh, sounds like you did all the basic troubleshooting already. Are you signing into a profile? Maybe it's importing a setting from that

I also ran the nightly for quite a while because I needed access to about:config and they've been locking it down for a while now. You can't even open a local html file on firefox mobile anymore. I don't really understand why they're moving backwards.

Anyway if you find a solution, I'd love to hear how you fixed it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So, I tried Nightly and it doesn't autoplay, but instead pops up the download file confirmation window which isn't much better.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I just tried nightly too and I'm not getting that, what file is it trying to download?

I do have a second video ad halfway down the screen that autoplays against my permissions. Installing ublock origin fixes that problem. Are you running ublock? Which video was auto playing for you? Ads really wont care what your settings are, but that's why we block them entirely.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nightly tries to download a file named master.m3u8 which is a Playlist for the actual video that plays.
(I'm talking about the embedded video right here in this page, not when following the link.)

And yes uBlock Origin everywhere all the time, otherwise browsing is simply a pain.

Weirdly, Firefox doesn't autoplay if I reload the page, but if I follow a link here (like from the replies page) it does.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I'm sorry but I'm not changing the entire post for a single user

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Block all JavaScript. I know, it's annoying to manually allow-list scripts but the alternative is more annoying.

My top tools are NoScript for Firefox mobile, uMatrix for Firefox desktop.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Please keep it civil here

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

can someone give summary what's going on there?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The US government is gathering up as much data on who's autistic for research apparently.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

thanks. I guess not for a scientific purposes

Researching who to grab off the street and send to a "wellness farm"

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

this is roman salute, that is wellness farm

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

How did teen vogue become a beacon of journalistic excellence?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

There isn't any evidence I've seen to support that but I think it is very worrying to many as it is hard to know what the data will be used for. We are talking about a guy who called Autism a epidemic and I think some are fearful that the "cure" involves violence and genocide.

As always, do your own research and come to your own conclusions
