This is fake.

Panel gaps are too consistent and it doesn't look like anything has fallen off.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Even survives car washes. Fake as hell

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

Things were just built better back then

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Also, as cars designed by immature adults go, it might just look better than the real thing.

I mean, it is also obviously AI generated, so there's that too. (Or is it?)

It is, this is way too well made, unless it’s a kitbashed scale model, but that would be even more impressive.

I could probably do this on photoshop if I had a couple hours to kill. But I think I and most of us have better things to do.

Survivorship bias

[–] [email protected] 49 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

Okay but why does this look better than the actual thing though

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

Colour! Silver is boring unless it's a highlight.

Also, that straight line that's bumper to bumper and consistent through the doors is a nice detail

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago

I’ve seen ones that were custom painted and they look significantly better. It doesn’t stop them from being dumpsters on wheels, but at least they look finished.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

Uhhh we might not see the same thing

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

because humans actually like smooth curves, as it turns out

Less electronics = less problems

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Tesla being terrible not withstanding, electric vehicles require less maintenance than ICE vehicles, I believe.

That being said, fuck cars anyway, all my homies love walkable neighbourhoods with public and active transport

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

they'd still be better with less electronics, particularly if we reduce the electronics to the point where they are just the original prototype car with a better battery

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

All my homies also want fewer electronics in cars (other than those required to make the car go) ergo, you are one of my homies ;)

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago

That vehicle has already lasted longer, and been more useful, than any of the embarrassing new ones.

Yes, are you still interested?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago

here is the original 1976 cyber truck

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago (4 children)

Hi, how many miles per gallon does it get?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Hi, how many ~~miles per gallon~~ gallons per mile does it get?

FTFY.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (3 children)

Ironic, gallons per mile is actually a more useful measure for high fuel efficiency vehicles because it directly represents fuel consumption. Differences in MPG are more misleading to intuition as MPG increases.

For example, upgrading from an 18mpg car to a 28mpg car (Option A) saves more fuel than upgrading from a 34mpg car to a 50mpg car (Option B). It is easy to be misled that Option B would result in more savings because it is an upgrade of 16mpg rather than only 10mpg in Option A.

GPM does not have this problem and the differences can be compared directly, Option A in GPM is 5.5gpm -> 3.5gpm, for a difference of 2gpm while Option B is 2.9gpm -> 2gpm for a difference of only 0.9gpm, making it easy to see that the Option A is a greater impact to fuel economy than Option B.

In civilized countries we use litres per hundred kilometres

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

But how many lentils per banana fart is that?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago

Per hundred miles, yes?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 weeks ago

It gets 13 gallons per mile.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

Miles, plural??

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

Smiles per gallon

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

Obviously fake. You can't buy a car that cheap.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 weeks ago

More desirable than the new ones. Looks like it could withstand someone spitting on it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 weeks ago

Lol I'll take two

I recently bought a wearable device from Amazon with programmable esp32 s3 board. What I got was basically buying a cybertruck and getting this.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Esp32s are great, what was your expectations?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

My expectation was to get a product with esp32 s3 from 2020, not the 2016 version.

Just like the car in the picture gets you from A to B, I can work with that chip. It's just a pain to strip and modify stuff designed for the S3 to get at least partially working on the chip I got. Luckily I don't need every "bell and whistle".

Probably lead acid batteries.
