Not who we should be centering in this. That person will be fine.

A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Yeah but it also tells that even the 'elites' aren't safe from this dumbassery.
I mean, fuck em. Centering on that will only continue to treat them as elites and never change the perspective.
Some entitled landlord is the last person that should be centered.
My thoughts exactly. What a tragedy. Future queen of Belgium can probably go to Oxford or any other big name college/university elsewhere.
I know she'll be fine, but I'd also prefer that future career politicians go study at places that still have a shred of integrity left.
Future queen of Belgium can probably go to Oxford
If only the OP had a link with more information about this.
You are absolutely correct on that, but I find it a bit ironic anyways. Trump seems to be quite fond of royalty, at least UK kind, and this underlines even more that relationship with Europe is going down the drain and fast. Royal families across the Europe are more or less either family or at least friends together and this will play it's small part on US failures to maintain any kind of political or other power across the pond.
Yeah, but this will probably sour US relations with the rest of the world even more.
I do not trust that the current US government is smart enough to not try to sick ICE on them.
Good thing a federal judge just blocked it
So what? Trump and his henchmen don't obey the courts. Haven't you noticed?
If that big, beautiful bill goes through, they really won't. IIRC it strips out the ability for courts to hold people in contempt unless they have a cash bond or some shit.
I would appreciate a source for that. I don't really need it but it at least helps amplify it for the lurkers.
ETA: Here's one- https://campaignlegal.org/update/these-hidden-provisions-budget-bill-undermine-our-democracy
But the reconciliation bill would require anyone suing the government to pay a bond before the court can use its contempt power to enforce injunctions or restraining orders meant to halt illegal actions.
By restricting this authority, the House bill threatens the power of the judicial branch. On its own, that represents an attack on the rule of law and the separation of powers that underlies our democracy.
Basically it seems like it is adding a paywall paid by the suer before the judge can use their contempt power against the executive branch. Such a blatant power grab for Trump's executive. Very unfair and bad.
Trumpsterfire!

The 'big, beautiful bill' ends judicial contempt, so courts won't be able to enforce their decisions and injunctions anymore.
They won, and idiots will vote for it for the tiny tax cut they get back.
Doesn't it bother anybody in Belgium that the future queen of Belgium doesn't study in Belgium? There are great universities in Belgium, on both sides of the language border.
To be clear, I'm Belgian and in favour of abolishing monarchy. But as the news about her is unavoidable: she did study at the royal military academy as all in line for the throne have too. Then she went to Oxford for her Bachelor degree. Plan was to get the master at Harvard.
The justification is partly elitism for those schools, partly getting exposed to other environments, and partly getting too avoid being to isolated in Belgian schools where the attention would be inevitable and security too hard.
US AND UK probably has the best schools, thats why even dictators go to school in the west.
Can be good experience to move away from home for a bit...
probably good for your leaders to have some sense of the greater world. i mean, look at America
Europoean aristocrats haven't been actual political leaders for a long time. They're basically just decoration.
Yes, but you don't get a sense for the world in the US, even as a foreigner.
You probably haven't been more than 50miles from your hometown for any length of time, have you?
Rand. Any chance you can balrfire Trump?
