NEED TO KNOW

Arpineh Masihi, a Trump supporter and Iranian immigrant, was targeted by ICE and taken from her home on June 30

Her husband, Arthu Sahakyan, told a local news station that even though he misses Masihi, he still supports the Trump administration's efforts to vet Iranian nationals

When asked whether he would take his MAGA flag off their house while his wife is detained, Sahakyan replied, "No, the flag stands"

Pretty sure he's next on the guest list

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 hours ago

Ooh, so Iran is also involved in this one.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 13 hours ago

MAGA is a mental illness. It flies in the face of all logic, is more important than friends and family, is above the law, relies on cult-like devotion, and is always right, even when proven wrong.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I would say brainwashed but they have to have a brain to have it washed.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 12 hours ago

Maybe it's just been washed to many times so now there's nothing left but emptiness O.o

[–] [email protected] 11 points 12 hours ago

The MAGA brain at all times.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 14 hours ago

Sacrificing your wife, mother of your childrem, is totally not cult behavior, no sir. /s

trump dementia syndrome, a unique disease where dementia is transmissible through electronic mediums, only affect republican/conservative leaning people.

“TDS” is what the maga cultists accuse anyone of having when they point out trump’s clear malice, incompetence, corruption, etc. It stands for “trump derangement syndrome.”

As if being a sane & rational person is “deranged.”

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 hours ago

It is always projection with them.

This is what I mean when I talk about how no amount of suffering will turn people to our side.

Suffering will not cure these fuckwits.

I honestly think their marriage was in shambles and he's glad he doesn't have to deal with it. That's the only way this makes sense.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 hours ago

That or he needs his MAGA social circle so can't show he's abandoning their cause.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 14 hours ago

We are under a dictatorship. Think theough the possible outcomes

Is he continues supporting Trump, he may get an exemption as a reward for his continued support despite a large news story developing

If he speaks out against Trump's policies, he's effectively guaranteed not to get an exemption. Anti-Trump citizens are freqently attacked. They may come up with arbitrary crimes to charge him with, similar to Abrigio Garcia His own citizenship may be in jeopardy, as Trump has stated he may strip citizenship from those he disagrees with

For him personally, it's an obvious choice: Publicly support Trump, as it maximizes your personal gains

Dont overlook the simple explanation that it's a legitimate honest to god cult. Not an iota less cultish than Jonestown. The antivaxxers who lost a 6yo daughter felt no remorse either and did not change their minds on vaccines. These kinds of people have been willingly programmed into a nationwide cult. Idk what reconstruction will look like but unless it makes Sherman blush, there's no saving this country.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

TBH even most real cults aren't so cartoonishly evil to get you to sacrifice your wife.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

Bible cults most certainly are, and the beliefs of the family that lost their child to measles is clearly one of those. They constantly make their followers do things against their self interest: tithing, eschewing modernity, having dozens of kids, mass suicides in the extreme cases.

[–] [email protected] 73 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That actually is a good explanation which also explains how ICE found out about her.

Anyone who's new to watching a trump administration - I gather a lot of you were, y'know, younger the first time around - It's important to remember: there is no bottom. Each and every new low is soon passed by an even lower low. It never ends.

Step on my throat harder, Daddy! 🥾😋😊😚

[–] [email protected] 22 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe he hated his wife and that was his plan all along.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Thats why you should live with someone at least a couple years before doing paperwork. Better chance you get all the kinks ironed out

[–] [email protected] 5 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Or ensure said kinks are at least compatible.

"I'm very for [the United States vetting] Iranian nationals because of the sleeper cells," Sahakyan told Fox 11. "I think it will resolve a lot of issues because we'll know exactly who's in here for what reasons, even though I miss [my wife] dearly."

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. They're married! It's a family bond! Imagine being married to a person that's like "sure, they took my spouse to a torture prison on foreign soil so I'd never see them or even their grave again, but they're torturing them for the greater good^™️^, so while I kind of miss them, I'm sure it's for the best of everyone. It was fun while it lasted."

If I ever returned, I'd skin them alive. That, too, I think would resolve a lot of issues.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 14 hours ago

It's common sense to support a dictator holding your wife hostage

What's he supposed to do, speak out against the guy holding his wife?

In a democracy, his support for Teump would be questionable. We are no longer in a democracy. Supreme leader takes your family, you thank him and hope for leniency

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 day ago

It's even weirder that judging by the names (wife's first name and husband's second) they are a pair of Iranian Armenians. It's not as if Trump hadn't broken every promise given to Armenians in the US.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 23 hours ago

my sister is married to someone like this and he also has a trump flag on the house they both live in.

i'm happy that my sister and nephews are all white-passing so that she'll never have to suffer through an ordeal like this; but at the same time i frustrated that she thinks it's fine and will never understand why it isn't

Maga is nested inside misogyny. His wife's problems are subordinate to his political allegiance. He probably things that trump will recompense the loss of his wife.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 13 hours ago

Stockholm syndrome or he dropped a dime on her to get rid of her

This guy would drink the flavour aid without a second thought. Or a first one.

Masihi, who is now in her 40s, was 3 when she came to the United States as a refugee from Iran. About 15 years ago, her green card was revoked due to a prior conviction she had for theft, and since then she's been dedicated to regaining her legal status, Sahakyan told the Los Angeles TV station in an interview.

"I'm very for [the United States vetting] Iranian nationals because of the sleeper cells," Sahakyan told Fox 11. "I think it will resolve a lot of issues because we'll know exactly who's in here for what reasons, even though I miss [my wife] dearly."

I suppose one way to radicalize someone would be to detain them without due process.

Trump doesn't understand what he's doing, but somehow, his supporters do.

Maybe he was looking to get rid of her anyway, so it's win/win.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 day ago

"Trump is not trying to do anything bad," Arthu Sahakyan told the local news after his wife was taken from their California home. "He wants the best for the country"

You're a fucking moron and we'll be better off when they deport you too.

It's incredible to me how some people (my own mother included), believe that this asshole cares about this country AT ALL.

"No, I wasn't expecting the leopards to eat my face, but I'm sure it was for the greater good. I still support the leopards. Although, I will miss my face and I don't know what it did wrong, this is the wisdom of the leopards and it is not meant for me to know."

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago

iran has leopards, cheeeths and lions.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 21 hours ago

I see someone who has to double down on their delusions or they will face immense guilt of voting for the person who disappeared their wife.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Clearly he doesn't understand. We've been identifying terrorists and sleeper cells for decades without snatching first and asking questions later. This is a combination of Federal incompetence (not being able to reasonably identify threats before detainment) and cruelty (they want self-deportations and unrest that justifies more funding).
