  • Only half of Trump voters surveyed believe that his tariffs on China will ultimately benefit US companies.
  • Roughly one in four Trump voters expressed concerns that the tariffs are damaging the US's ability to negotiate trade agreements with other nations.
  • Trump's supporters are nearly evenly split on whether he should require Congressional approval to impose tariffs or if he should possess the sole authority.
  • While 46 per cent of Trump voters support tariffs on China even if they lead to higher domestic prices, a quarter of them also think these tariffs are detrimental to US companies.

Oh fuck off with this click bait nonsense. The "poll" by politico was just 1200 people who self identified as trump supporters. 25% said they believe Trump's tariffs will hurt American businesses while 63% said they think his tariffs will help American businesses.

There is no such thing as trump supporters turning on him. This is a lie being fabricated in front of your eyes. I want to see the fascist taken down as badly as anyone, but lies like this help noone.

They like red flags

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 hours ago

My message to maga...well, he's a dangerous idiot being told what to do by dangerous, evil people. We told you he was, and we told you they were. You voted for him anyway, and so now, YOU'RE all idiots for doing so.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

The one consistent part of his entire campaign.... Is the things they might not like. Wtaf

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

Naw maga fam, you get at least two christmases of explaining to your kids why tariffs mean santa can't bring as many toys. Fuck you, you don't get off that easy, you simple jacks and basic cindies.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

So this is the line? This is the straw that broke the camels back?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 hours ago

Don't worry, this isnt the first time theres been outrage in the base over Trumps actions.

They'll conveniently forget it all and be back to being loyal unquestioning automatons before the next election.

The thing he openly campaigned on and that they knowingly voted for is a “red flag” for them, now?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He told you dipshits beforehand that he was going to do this shit. FFS, facepalm, JFC, etc. These people are just so goddamn stupid.

From Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tariffs_in_the_second_Trump_administration#Planning

While campaigning for his second term as US president, Trump pledged even larger tariffs than his first term, including 60% on China, 100% on Mexico, and 20% on all other countries. He also proposed tariffs to penalize US companies that outsourced manufacturing, such as a 200% tariff on John Deere. Trump also suggested replacing income taxes with tariff revenue—an idea economists from the Tax Foundation deemed "mathematically impossible".[37] 23 Nobel Prize-winning economists signed a letter warning that Trump's policies, including high tariffs, would "lead to higher prices, larger deficits, and greater inequality".[38][39]

I mean....

Since the 1980s, Trump has advocated for import tariffs as a tool to regulate trade and retaliate against foreign nations that he believes have taken advantage of Americans.[15] In his campaigns for the US presidency, Trump promised to use tariffs to achieve a wide range of goals, including preventing war, reducing trade deficits, improving border security, and subsidizing childcare.[16] Although Trump has said foreign countries pay his tariffs, US tariffs are fees paid by US consumers and businesses while importing foreign goods.[17][16][18][19]

Emphasis mine

He told you dipshits beforehand that he was going to do this shit.

Yet another eerie parallel with a certain German political activist from the 1930s.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

yeah, but you're trying to talk to intelligent people. MAGAts are NOT intelligent. you have to dumb shit down significantly.

[–] [email protected] 130 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Oh look, he’s doing exactly what he said he’d do. He advertised his intentions but stupid people didn’t pay attention. My relationship with my mother ended because she voted for him again. Whoops, you voted to hurt yourself.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 day ago

my standard is a person is allowed to vote for DJT exactly one time and receive grace. if you voted for him in 2016 i can see the possibility that you didn't grow up familiar with american greed corruption, and propaganda. i have a beloved friend who voted for him the first time she ever voted in this country because Hillary Clinton read to her as the corrupt authoritarian making populist promises and DJT the earnest well meaning media personality who works for the people. after he took office and she saw that he had tricked her, she started listening to different groups of Americans differently and never went along with him again.

everyone elso who continues to go along with him? there's no excuse. he's shown you over and over who he really is. he killed half a million americans mismanaging the pandemic. now he's disrupting our food supply lines to kill half a million more through starvation. you're deluding yourself if you don't think he'll kill another half million at least in his death camps. this is not a joke. this is not a game.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Relationships like that are ending all over the US. It's insane just how much damage they've all done to their own families.

My own family members I've cut off are still deluding themselves into thinking Trump is just a republican version of Obama.

I suspect many of them are racist at this stage.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

Trump is just a republican version of Obama.

WTAF.

I find it really wild when the people running around talking about "TDS" are the ones that all lost their minds over Obama calmly and rationally doing normal things as a President. The very same ones usually spent a lot of the 90s with the black helicopter bunch and they were quite sure, apropos of zero evidence, that Reno/Clinton was going to kick in their doors and take all their GUNZ and put them into FEMA death camps.

And, spoiler alert, after two terms each of Clinton and Obama, they still have all their gunz and Obama didn't even "fundamentally change America" into some kind of Muslim and/or Socialist country because of Obama's anti-colonialism or terrorist fist jabs or whatever. 🤣

These are some of the very same dickheads that are cheering on things like Alligator Auschwitz, by the way. Irony is dead.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I still can't believe the Dems lost to the dumbest freaking idiots alive. What a clown show.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

It was like watching a dude clutch dump a Mustang and shatter the transmission, thus forfeiting the circuit race to this

[–] [email protected] 2 points 15 hours ago

Leading up to the election, they really could not make a single politically wise decision to save their lives. They doubled down on out of touch rich people as their base, and are only tripling down now. Despite left wing politicians doing well while centrists languished, they think that a more feudal future where the poors have died or can't vote will save them. They're doing everything they can to prevent left wing opposition from existing so people can only choose politicians who openly don't represent them.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (5 children)

But not the lying, the raping, the trampling of the constitution, the racism, the sexism, the homophobia or the transphobia? Just the tariffs, huh?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 hours ago

Consumerism is so deeply engrained in the psyche of the US that it often pushes aside morals or ethics.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

"hE's JuSt LiKe Me!"

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Well it's the first thing to personally affect them, so...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago
[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Can't be American without some of that

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago

I don't think they're smart enough to think PEDOnald's tariffs are behind the price hikes. They'll hork down whatever bullshit he wants them to believe just fine.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Are we still pretending that voter sentiment is a concern?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Even in an authoritarian regime, popularity still matters. Political scientists estimate that governments are in danger when at least 3.5% of the population is in the streets. The No Kings protests reached about 2%, and his popularity is still going down. If he were smart, he'd be extremely worried about that.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

3.5% for a sustained protest posting several days. Unfortunately, we're nowhere near that yet.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not. The next phase of Trumpism won't need votes from citizens, only from Congress....

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago

He made it clear pre-election that that was his intention.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There’s no way we could have known he’d use tariffs to extract bribes.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 day ago

It's so out of character. If only we had decades of history to judge how a person is.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago
  • Roughly one in four Trump voters expressed concerns that the tariffs are damaging the US's ability to negotiate trade agreements with other nations.

If you ever wondered how stupid your average Nazi was, 3/4 don't think he's harming trade relations

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Everything he’s doing is a red flag for the 99%. Get learnt.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Trump's supporters are nearly evenly split on whether he should require Congressional approval to impose tariffs or if he should possess the sole authority.

I read this as half of Trump voters are fascists. Which is less than I thought.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What do you call someone who sits at the table with a fascist? Even if they verbally disagree with them.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I'm quite fond of the term Quisling.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Sounds like some of them haven't gotten their full updates yet. Trying to run a republican on old software can cause odd responses or straight up glitches.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He has zero legal authority to be imposing the vast majority of these tariffs.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

what is anyone gonna do to stop him? He's already had courts telling him he can't do most of the shit he's doing. He just ignores them.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He can do whatever the fuck he wants, as long as half of Congress permits him to do so by not impeaching him.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

Yes. We know. We all know. I’m going to keep calling it out though. It’s the least I can do.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm willing to accept former Trump voters into the ranks of reality.

My only conditon: get on the ground and fucking beg for it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I doubt that'll do any good. Actively volunteering to help communities ravaged by fascism would be far more useful and humbling

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I'm talking more about the people that just post videos "oh no, I didn't know, pls accept me 👉👈🥺"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

and I'd rather those people do something to mitigate this mess than beg for forgiveness
