I usually name my online game characters "Dixie Normus" and always play as a female character.

Definitely not mine. First, too many people don't actually pay attention to realize it's not "fuck" and surprisingly too few people get the joke considering Lemmy is so Linux crazy. But most frustratingly, people just assume I'm an asshole because of it and then treat me like I am. Sometimes I really regret it.
I remember a guild called Two Maidens and Chalice. Can’t remember the game, but t’was funny.
Ran across a Hunter back in my WoW days named Bowjob. Had a good laugh.
Slimey Slime McSlimington, from a page of this sources back in the old Internet. For additional reference "twink" used to refer to a tabletop RPG munchkin or power gamer; not the, uh, not the other thing.
As far as I've seen it's the oldest example of the "namey mcname" joke out there.
Back when I was playing World of Tanks, there were plenty of quite interesting nicknames. Unfortunately, most I remember were in my non-english language, but there were some international like Hairy Spotter, IPutTheFunInFuneral or 10InchInColdWater.
League of legends player named Fizz on my Jayce. Crass but clever.
JeffBoyardee
To this day, I remember from probably twenty years ago or more seeing something on SomethingAwful that included the name “HPHovercraft” and it’s just the greatest. I’ll never forget it.
My personal favorite is [email protected]
Yours was the first I thought of after reading the question…
Kind of similar to your own, there.
No theirs has humor, class and sophistication.
Unless you are specifying a mailto link, you need to preface the username with @ to mention them, i.e @[email protected]
Thanks.
I was attempting to say the name without mentioning them directly.
My brother, when he was playing Overwatch back then, was killed by someone called Kim Jong Skillz
I think the first person to use an obfuscated name like lIiḷ|ḷiIl was pretty clever.
This has me really curious about the most obfuscated, ambiguous/difficult/problematic possible usernames both for security/privacy and interesting anomalies in general.
Feel like one could make a whole book on this -- please send any resources that could shed insight if possible
I wonder if you can break copy-paste by mixing in similar looking characters from a right-to-left language.
Actually a security concern for the web: IDN homograph attack
Iirc this was also an issue for hacks on the computer as well. Something about naming it pdf but it was actually an exe because they used right to left. Something like that

Reanu Keeves
Sounds familiar. I think I saw him in Skyrim a few times.
Hey name sibling!
For tumblr, that username is cute. For LinkedIn, it would be brilliant.
I think your user name is pretty freaking clever, too. Nice job!
thanks!

Similarly, quetzaldilla.
Yours is pretty good, actually.
Most names I see here are just references or trying to be ultra edgy and offensive (SatansMaggotyCumFart for example). They might be memorable, but I wouldn't say they are creative.
Not many people have puns or even well done portmanteaus for usernames. 😔
Mine's not clever, just an NPC I made for an old GURPS game I ran ages ago that I've since used as my handle online. Frustratingly there's some guy in Italy who claimed it as their Steam name though so that's the one place I couldn't use it lol
FYI: your display name on steam doesn't have to be your login name and it doesn't need to be unique (but if you join a game with someone using the same name, whoever joins last will have a number appended to the end of it). You can change it whenever you want from the edit profile page.
I have seen yours the most. It's not the most creative but it's definitely the most eye catching from all big Lemmy posters.
Would it be more creative knowing the origin?
It's my two dogs' names combined. Loki and Kona. But I also misspelled it and the KOLA should have been a KOLO. KOloNAki.
It's definitely fun to know that.
For me creative would be more like when something makes me giggle but only after reading it twice.
MaidenOregon is a brilliant play on Made In Oregon
That's got to be mine
