Good, I hope American cinema never recovers. Who cares about nazi culture? Not me.

Who the hell is still spending money on visual media? Why?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

darn it gang, it isn't even X-mas and you're making me drop the "don't make or use male to male cables outside of disaster situations" PSA

Pretty sure fictional Lector has a lower body count than RFK. RFK killed like 80 children via anti-measles vaccine propagandizing. The Trumpists are obsessed with those sad and troubling movies because they portray caricatured trans people and cops are portrayed heroically.

I find it frustrating at times that culture on North America is not up to the task of making light of political troubles on the continent.

how embarrassing

Just saw @[email protected] talking about their game on Masto, which is currently on sale, and it sorta seemed like it would have a bunch of cross-appeal over here. Right? "an anti-capitalist indigenous-made cyberpunk game"? C'mon.

-----------Steam Copy Follows------------

Neofeud is a Dystopic Cyberpunk adventure game in the vein of Blade Runner, but with an overlay of Game of Thrones-like political intrigue, and 1366x768, hand-painted, stylized visuals. The art, writing, programming, music, and audio are made by one person, Christian Miller, also known as Silver Spook, with the exception of 50% of the voice acting.

Synopsis:

2033 - We create AI. Sentient robots arrive, but not as our Terminator overlords or our Singularity saviors -- conscious machines are humanity's unwanted bastard children. A few are geniuses who design flying cars, beat cancer, invent teleportation, but millions of defective prototypes roll out of factories -- mentally challenged, motivationally-challenged, criminally-inclined. Legally conscious, but unhirable, these "Defectives" are shuffled through public housing and welfare assistance, straining the already overburdened back of the meager social safety net. The robots who don't end up in prison are dumped, as a last resort, into a massive landfill known as "The Pile".

Humans engage in perfection of their species -- or at least the powerful and well-connected -- genetically engineering children with human and animal DNA. The failed eugenics experiment "Frankenpeople" are discarded into "The Pile" as well. The new dynasties, 'Neofeudal Lords', live in towering neon glass castles, shuttle around in pristine nanotech-enabled pods, minds and bodies full of cyberware, spending most of their time taking selfies and "optimizing their monetization schemes". A race of supermen concerned only with their own status, their prestige, their success. Where machines have become all too flawed and human, people have become flawless, perfect, cold machines.

Karl Carbon is an ex-cop, dishonorably discharged from Coastlandia PD for disobeying an order to shoot an unarmed sentient humanoid. Karl is exiled to "The Pile" as a lowly social worker. There he counsels gangbanging foster-kid robots and confiscates chimera-children from deadbeat half-wolf parents. Till one day a case goes horribly sideways and Karl is drawn into a sordid conspiracy that could threaten the strained fabric of Human-Robot-Hybrid civilization -- or save it.

FEATURES

-15+ hours of gameplay.

-An original dystopic sci-fi world and story that will (hopefully) make you question some of your core beliefs. Or at least my sanity

-Tricky yet satisfying, point-n-click detective work, interspersed with tense action shootouts.

-Handpainted, uber-gritty, noir futureland. Makes Mad Max and Rick Deckard crap their pants.

-Endless bombardment of witty one-liners from hardboiled cyberpunk.

it is pretty sad how completely captured by their fiat they are in the colonies, you pretty much can't motivate them without it

it's like antisocial brain damage they just keep passing along because they can't figure out communal supply and exchange without little paper slavery

Looks fun and funny. There's a demo and here's a trailer.

Game copy follows.

After a whole afternoon at home with your sibling, the kitchen’s a mess, your room’s in disarray, you haven't hung the laundry: a normal day. SUDDENLY... you see on that phone notification that your dad will be coming home early - you hear the garage screeching and opening and... RUN!! DAD'S COMING!!

Meet Bob, the goofy, clumsy brother who’s panicking thinking of the horrible things might happen to him if dad finds out they made a mess - like not playing video games for the rest of the night. Terrifying!

Kate, on the other hand, was born for this. She's had years of intensive training: putting everything away and pretending she's asleep as soon as she hears dad in the hallway on the way to her bedroom, never once being spotted! And this time it won't be different.

But be careful! Your adorable cat Jack won't stop knocking things over!

And many other challenges! Cooperate by throwing objects between floors!

Be careful not to break windows or fragile objects like grandma's urn - your dad won't be too happy if your grandma bites the dust twice!

Keep an eye on Jack, the siblings’ cat! He is always messing around and knocking things over.

Use the means in each house to be even quicker, such as service elevators!

Watch out for blackouts in blizzards! Sometimes you will have to reactivate the circuit breaker!

And much more!

Considering the Switch 2 (with those pretty joystick well covers to protect from drift, omg) and the Ryzen Z2 Go announcements, the low cost and availability of Steam Deck & parity level APU machines for purchase now, and the giant 1080p gaming install base represented by current gen consoles, it sure seems like low spec & 1080p gaming is going to have a pretty sunny future. I am hoping this gives small and medium sized development teams a chance to show up what is left of AAA gaming.

What are your favorite low spec gaming setups right now? I'm enjoying a 5700g APU system the most these days. Mainstream wise, I've been playing Elden Ring and Injustice 2 and Vampire Survivors. The last Indie I played is this beat-em-up / horde survival game An American Werewolf in LA which was pretty cool.

that's cool how three problems are ones NYT have majorly enabled and the last one is fake

Please don't willfully misinterpret. The USA was founded as and remains a fascist slavery empire. Because we are trying to describe the monster from within the monster, we are forced to use FOREIGN TERMS for the DOMESTIC MONSTER. I am not confused about the origins of fascism and slavery as it relates to "The United States" and "Germany," neither of which I view as legitimate entities.

One of the worst things about nationalism and Nazism is that Nazis can make people into Nazis before and without their consent. Non-consensual Nazis who were raised or groomed into Nazis are still a kind of Nazis.

I mean I guess it is nice to see some resistance to nazification in the media but this is pure fantasy

Fascinating. Good luck with this concept as you navigate computing. Taking a stand against the concept of computer memory is a new one for me.

Surprise this meme was another plug for retroachievements

retroachievements

What's retroachievements? Basically it adds XBOX Live style achievements and global high score tables to retro emulation platforms. This added layer of social gaming and community driven accomplishment hunting really builds on the retro games emulation experience. The best part is you can get it running on pretty much any platform you emulate games on, your phone, your deck, your weird android handheld, HTPC, even your lappy-5000.

Since RA adds score and achievement tracking, those of us who game at decisively higher levels and compete for the most glorious prizes imaginable like to use it to track our games. Now is a great time to get it set up, so when the call for challengers comes to Beehaw, you can dive right in.

Here are some of the most fun achievements I have personally gotten.

Batman Returns

Castlevania 3

Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day

Felix the Cat

Anyway, this has been anarchist propaganda, toodles

the judgy boomer vibe is fun for memes but let's remember tis the corpos who are actually wasting untold amounts of energy, not you and your 4070, friendo 😘

the level of gaming you can accomplish now at less than 100 W TDP blows me away

a lot of it is happening on old hardware!

Yeah punk. Living that 5700g life. Rocking 3700U as a daily driver, what? Yeah I have a fast graphics card, it's called a 780m you might have heard of it from can barely play Baldurs Gate 3 but it counts as playable. Gaming on integrated graphics is cool because it's a lower TDP option for the environment. Fight me. I'm over here playing 2017's greatest offerings at nearly 60fps 720p and I'm enjoying myself. Oh, Cult of the Lamb? Yes, hahaha, I get over 40 fps in Cult of the Lamb. The only other gamers who can @ are switch and xbox series s gangsters. Mortal Kombat 9? Ah, "the good one" of course.

It runs, I'm gaming on it. I don't care bro.
