But which toilet does it use?!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Already done, along with a bunch of other stuff including cloudflare WAF and rate limiting rules.

I am still annoyed that it took me over a day' of my life to finally (so far) restrict these things. And several other days to offload the problem to Cloudflare pages for sites that I previous self hosted but my rural link couldn't support.

this advice is just for “unintentional” DDoS attacks, not intentionally malicious ones.

And I don't think these high volume AI scrapes are unintentional DDOS attacks. I consider them entirely intentional. Not deliberrately malicious, but negligent to the point of criminality. (Especially in requesting the same pages again so frequently, and all of them ignoring robots.txt)

Surprised at the level of negativity here. Having had my sites repeatedly DDOSed offline by Claudebot and others scraping the same damned thing over and over again, thousands of times a second, I welcome any measures to help.

That would increase the prices in the exporting countries. It's not as if there's such a huge surfeit that they're being destroyed.

In unrelated news, hate is reduced across the world.

the reality is that every Chinese company is ultimately controlled by the CCP.

Yes.

But in the same way that every US company is ultimately controlled by the US Government. And every EU company by them. And every other country by their own government.

But then he'll just pardon them - they all know they have a get of jail free card.

Each will send their old or excess stock, or newly manufacturer weapons.

Some of the old stock may include weapons bought from the US previously, but it's very unlikely Europeans will be buying new weapons and supplies from US to give to Ukraine. France, Germany Italy, Spain and the UK all have significant arms manufacturing ability and have ability to scale up quickly. (Reference)

Many European leaders (including business leaders) are extremely reticent to enter into new supply deals of any kind with the US given the recent trade volatility.

Bad news sells.

Plenty of evil has been done under the name of communism and socialism too. It's not capitalism's fault, that's just the tool that's being used in these cases by evil people to achieve their ends.

Interesting.

The EU & UK would consider that age discrimination and illegal. You can't be forced to retire at a given age.

Strange that America uses it - especially given the age you allow your presidents to be.

Under this methodology of all 193 UN Member States – an expansive model of 17 categories, or “goals,” many of them focused on the environment and equity – the U.S. ranks below Thailand, Cuba, Romania and more that are widely regarded as developing countries.

In 2022, America was 41st. Interesting to see where it will be after this term of office, which looks set to be working against many of these aims.

On display at the Stromness museum. Carved from whalebone and believed to be a child's doll.

Was discovered at the famous Skara Brae site, and then spent years forgotten in a box at the museum before being rediscovered.
