I do. Love a good jean jacket, it's like pants for your arms. Wear it with jeans and you've got yourself a Canadian tuxedo!

[–] [email protected] 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Certainly. A men's fashion staple, if you ask me. I'd like a black one, too.

Is there a male fashion advice Lemmy, actually? I loved that sub back on Reddit.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago (4 children)

While I find the Canadian tuxedo slightly dubious male fashion advice, I enjoy the conversation and would also like to know

Turns out there is one! [email protected]

Not very active, but it's up to us to change that, isn't it? I have some colour combination infographic lying around that I can share there, I think.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: [email protected]

I'm Canadian so it's the law.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Just like we ride moose to hockey practice every day eh

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

I ride caribous. Through 1.875 meters of snow. While rolling blunts. To watch a game at the 'local' "pub".

It's pronounced meese, btw.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Get after it!!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm a bad Canadian for not wearing a Jean jacket. Just don't like the feeling of denim... Pants included. I do recall owning a Jean jacket as a child though, so maybe I'm not so bad.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

As long as you did it once you have upheld the legislation.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I have a denim vest with band patches on it, battle jacket type thing if that counts.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

I still have mine from the 90s. I haven't worn it in more than 20 years, and it's far too small for me (I'm regular sized, but in high school I was painfully thin). It's got a bunch of punk band patches, both famous and local, most of which no longer exist.

It hangs out with my guitars.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Mine is corduroy :)

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago

Sure, here, let me come over and show it to you...

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago

Nope.

Not Canadian

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I still own the best jacket ever made, the Lee Stormrider.

Got it in like 1986-1990 ish, not totally sure.

It’s pretty discoloured so I only wear it for dirty work, but it’s still completely structurally sound except for the standard slice in the wool liner to make a pocket and path down the sleeve to hide your cigarettes in.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

You can re-dye them! (Not sure how well that works with any wool parts.)

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I do, and I wear it, as is my God-given right as a Canadian

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I think Trudeau is questionable but I did appreciate his full dedication to the Canadian tuxedo.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 11 months ago

Nope. Cotton in the wet and cold are miserable to wear. I avoid denim jeans, too.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

Yes. It was part of my costume when I was cosplaying as a character from the film The Warriors.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

No. I'm more of a hoodie person.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

I inadvertently left mine hanging in a hotel room in Atlanta time time in the late '90's and never looked back.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

No. Never owned one. Not really my style.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

Nope. I have texture issues with denim.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I own 2 black ones. I bought them because I was going for a kind of 70s look at the time and remembered loving my jean jacket as a kid.

Not blue but khaki. Basically the same material as jeans.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yep. Got a Sherpa denim jacket last year for winter and it was a great decision. Kept me toasty warm and was a good alternative to a heavy winter coat.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Can I ask where you live that that would suffice for winter?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Sw sask, se Alberta

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I can't speak for him but that would be too warm for most of winter where I am. Maybe in the two days it gets down to freezing or whenever it sleets it would be fine.

Except for the snowpocolypse or whatever the fuck we called it when our elected official ran like a bitch leaving the guy who lost and an out of state rep to help people who needed it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

No, but now I want one.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

No. I don’t like the way pants feel on my legs. Why would I want them on my arms.

That being said I don’t know anyone that does so maybe it’s really just cuz I’m not Canadian like others have suggested.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Hell yeah. It's my favorite piece of clothing. Got patches and pins all over it, a real battle jacket. Thing will probably outlive me, too, particularly at the rate we're going.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Nope, I don't dislike them, but they won't fit my current style

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I do have one. It holds my cool pins! I wear it sometimes when I wanna look edgy. It’s a little tight in the shoulders but I like it a lot.

My daily wear is usually a bomber jacket

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Ugh, I wish I still had the one I had in college 20 years ago. It was lined with fake fur kind of fabric and it was so warm, and I'm always cold, so I wore it constantly. Sadly, I gained a few pounds and it didn't fit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I don’t own one. Don’t recall ever seeing them for sale. In any case, it’s probably too hot to wear them here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I’ve always wanted a Sherpa lined one and every time I have tried one on I look like I’m wearing a blue refrigerator box.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

No, I always feel too restricted in the shoulders and arms and it bugs me

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It's my niceish early spring/fall jacket. Unfortunately that season usually amounts to a grand total of four days per year; the rest is either too cold, too hot, or both.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

No. Denim is a miserable material.
