One death is coincidental, two is suspicious, any more and it’s gonna become plainly obvious, and now there’s 10. That’s just delicious. They can’t silence them all.

1 dead whistleblower is a tragedy. 10 dead whistleblowers are a statistic.

So in other words, very plausible deniability.

We had that tech in 1968. I'm pretty sure it would be a matter of a phone call and some change from the couch cushions for Boeing to create the recent outcome.

Does this mean they did it? No.

Does it warrant the reaction folks are having about it? Absolutely yes. (Edit - In light of their current troubles and the fate of the prior whistleblower.)

Gotta love my fellow millennials - battered old souls that only the offer of getting murdered gets us properly motivated.

[–] [email protected] 57 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Most of us see that as a perk. “Wait, I can die right now, painlessly? Like totally painless? Where do I sign up?”

[–] [email protected] 66 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I mean, if the choice is instant, painless death or decade after decade of your parents asking why you don't own a house, I guess death is fine?

Dark but that sentiment aint coming out of now where.

The hitperson is the only competent employee left at Boeing.

[–] [email protected] 66 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That guy is booked through year end now.

[–] [email protected] 56 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Overbooked. This is the airline industry we're talking about.

You could just say ‘assassin’. “Hitperson” makes it sound like some HR-designated position, awkwardly titled in some neutral, milquetoast way as not to offend anyone.

Article author seems to have completely fabricated the "10 more". There are no quotes from anyone even hinting at more whistleblowers existing, let alone ten more.

Wow, ten more suicidal people that really want to off themselves and also suddenly all started talking about Boeing, all at the same time. They'll also all off themselves in the coming weeks.

What are the chances of that happening?

[–] [email protected] 35 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Boeing deliberately only hires people with suicidal tendencies. It's a non-negotiable character trait.

For real. If ever there were a time to hop on an Amtrak, I think this would be a good one.

Hold on! A SECOND whistleblower died?!

[–] [email protected] 57 points 1 year ago (2 children)

MRSA infection following hospital admittance for Pneumonia. That shit is serious and way more prevalent than people think, it's just that it usually kills people who are already terminally ill.

Unlikely to be an assassination. But not impossible. Either way, looks very bad.

It'll be such a surprise when it turns out all 10 have been suicidal for years and/or extremely susceptible to infection.

“the sudden announcement of Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun's resignation by the end of 2024 was interpreted as a response to the company's persistent safety issues.”

I hope Boeing has serious bonus claw-backs in their contracts, because this idiot’s “cost-savings” have actually cost Boeing a fortune, and destroyed their reputation. The entire board should go.

I remember thinking movies just had absurd sensationalized plot lines and that our societies were past that shit. Then I saw former soviets killed by alpha particle emitting pills, whistleblowers dying, and now I'm thinking the truth is stranger than fiction.

Hang in there Edward Snowden, it's amazing that fucker threaded the needle and still lives.

If we had a functioning government they'd already be bankrupt or in the hands of a legit oversight authority, rather than allowed to continue to run a blatantly corrupt and dangerous enterprise.

at this point, Boeing's gonna need a defense contractor's worth of weapons to deal with all of these whistleblowers... oh wait.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 year ago

"Cut off one head and FIVE more will take its place."

Boeing is about to engage in the most desperate game of whack-a-mole ever.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

They are just looking to open some doors, mid flight.
