The poachers just taught gorillas how to make traps. Now the gorillas are gonna go full Rambo on them.
When you're a poacher and the bushes start speaking gorilla.
Now the gorillas are gonna go full Congo on them.
FTFY
Like king Leopold congo? Like where soldiers would only get more bullets if they could prove that the bullet they used killed a person?
The poachers have just been selectively breeding hyper intelligent apes this whole time
Literally Darwin
I wanted to confirm this because it was so cool.
The main hit I found was a National Geographic article (paywall it seems) from Jul 18, 2012
it's account walled, just turn off java script
Then they might actually be Gen Z, lol
~~Gen Z Gorillas~~ GorillaZ
GorillaZ?
Nah, both were born in 1968. Early gen X.
So, GorrillaX?
teach gorillas to make traps to catch poachers
Have I seen this movie..?
Quite a few of them, actually - as well as remakes, the more recent of which are actually pretty good & you shouldn't limit yourself to just one if that's all you've seen.
😛
I get a kick out of the idea that the apes were trying to warm off the humans because the traps are dangerous. Proof that they're able to tell the difference between human poachers and humans they either know are good or that they've never seen before and are effectively "innocent" potential victims.
Or they don't know that the traps are made by humans.
Indeed, humans are treacherous and sneaky bastards.
Well, according to sources like The Jungle Book and The Lion King, humans aren't the only ones... 🤪
If they're 4 years old, that makes them generation alpha.
cries proudly in Harambe
What if they weren't worried about the humans, but stopped them so they could give the new guys some field training?
A species unburdened by the trappings of social media
Guerilla Gorilla, guerilla Gorilla not for sale
What does this have to do with Gen Z?
There's a trope out there that Gen Z has to do everythingbfor themselves because the older generations have failed them so thoroughly.
Weird, the stereotype I've seen everywhere is that they don't know how to do anything for themselves
I see Boomers saying that....usually calling the 20 year olds "millennials".
Most millennials know they've been dealt an even shittier hand than we were.
I see Millenials bemoaning Gen Z helplessness all the time. I think the only generation thinking or Gen Z as capable are the Gen Z themself.
Maybe the people complaining drown out everyone else. But people like David Hogg and Greta Thunberg are Gen Z and out doing more than most to fix the problems they see. Like maybe people complain that Gen Z has no idea what files on a computer are, but that seems like a different thing than helplessness.
Could be people see Greta as an anomaly rather than representative of her generation. Or as I've often heard, in the sort of patronizing "well isn't that nice that kids are doing that sort of stuff" way.
Generalizations only work so well. Some millennials chastise Gen Z and some support them.
I am an Eldritch millennial and everyone that I know thinks Gen Z is pretty awesome. We're just trying to hold the world together for them.
Funny, because my friends who were teachers all quit teaching.
Is it because of the kids or the admin/parents/political activists/gun violence/low pay?
Yeah. Teaching sucks and I don't know why anyone puts up with it. Mad respect and solidarity to all the teachers out there.
Doesn't mean they don't like Gen Z. They're overworked and underpaid. But I can't stress enough that that's our fault. (I might put more blame on the Boomers running things.) We're not prioritizing education and you can't blame the people in school for that.
Both are young. I think that's about it.
I was expecting there to more to it
Now teach them to open migrant camp doors.
Feels like a metaphor for Gen Z at large tbh
