Biden, who has faced heavy criticism in recent years for a series of gaffes and apparent mental lapses, mistakenly said that Hezbollah was responsible for the attack while making the ceasefire announcement on Wednesday.

"Good afternoon, it's a very good afternoon," Biden said while flanked by Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken while announcing the deal at a press conference. "Because at long last, I can announce a ceasefire and a hostage deal has been reached between Israel and Hamas."

"[After] more than 15 months of conflict that began with Hezbollah's [sic] brutal massacre on October the 7th," he continued. "More than 15 months of terror for the hostages, their families, the Israeli people. More than 15 months of suffering by the innocent people of Gaza. Fighting in Gaza will stop and soon the hostages will return home and to their families."

Is this even news any more? Elect a senile old man and he'll make errors.
Americans voted for 4 more years of that, nottheonion is going to get a lot more material.

I just hope Trump's senior moments don't get us all killed. I mean, his lucid thoughts are bad enough.

Going by his Covid response, you can probably make some reasonable predictions.

You never mix stuff. But this is not caused by your intelligence (not intelligent), but because you have so little going on.

Fun genocide fact! Israel has killed at least 10x as many Palestinian children as Hamas killed total in the initial attack.

Considering the real figures are likely 1.5-2x what is confirmed, the IDF has killed more children in the last 13 months than all Israeli's killed by Palestinians since the 1948 war! Ain't fascism a blast!?!

There were 36 Israeli children killed on October 7.

At least 18,000 Palestinian children have been killed since October 7.

This ratio results in a perfectly round number of Israel killing at least 500x more children than Hamas.

Ah yes, the classic "eye for an eye" retaliation that Isreal loves so much /s

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

"500 eyes for an eye" doesn't really have the same ring to it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

their rhetoric and behaivor has been one of . "take care of this problem once and for all"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

They do maintain an official policy of disproportionate response.

Nah let him go out a clown.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

He'd already be a clown even if he got this right.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 5 months ago

OMG, what a faux pas! /S

I mean come on. It's a totally normal irrelevant mistake anyone could make. Besides, who cares?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Bfd, he flubbed a word. Meanwhile Trump...

Covfefe anyone?

That seems more like a Freudian slip than anything else. It's easy to confuse one terrorist group for another, especially when they both have a name that starts with 'H' and they're fighting each other.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

Especially when you're battling Alzheimer's

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

That's not a Freudian slip. That's just misspeaking.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Sure, what a scoop Newsweek. You're really shaking things up.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

marginally less bad than mixing up the names of Zelenskyy and Putin. tho

Bidens legacy has been the genocide in Gaza and this was supposed to be some redemption. Biden not knowing which group he is talking about in the ceasefire remarks is peak satire.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Is he talking about the ceasefire that Israel immediately violated? So it’s, like, not a ceasefire?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

The ceasefire goes in effect on Sunday. Israel always kills as many civilians as they can before a ceasefire but technically this ceasefire still has to go into effect.

Why are we still pretending that Biden’s giving carte blanche and a steady supply of entirely unnecessary and overkill weaponry to Bibi to do whatever the fuck he wanted in Gaza is not what’s happening here?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Because everyone who does so gets called a Trump supporter.
