He killed A deputy. Not The deputy.

He matched the description

We have a blue individual ....

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 week ago

With their matching clothes and arrogant gait, they all kind of look the same at 70-80 mph.

I think the father’s point is that the system is broken; not that he got revenge on his son’s specific killer, just some revenge on the system as a whole.

Vigilante justice is the only justice these days

What's the difference

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

When the cops back the blue, when they lie and cheat to cover up their coworkers' misdeeds, they all become targets...

And look, my friend, this is old news. We have said for decades that either cops regulate themselves or they will be regulated by the people. Even now, this message is still falling on deaf ears.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I wouldn't bother, the freaks here don't care

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

We all know who the real criminals are. The people in uniforms with badges and guns, who love to target minorities, who lie every day of their lives, under oath and on the stand, and pretend they're not the bad guys because it was their coworker who did the horrible action, not them, they only stood by and watched.

Of course any death is sad. My heart goes out to both families. Also, if you want the problem to be solved, you start by locking up the dirty pigs, not by accusing the general public of ... checks notes ... understanding the current state of reality.

Sad fact: American police training involves teaching them to shout "drop the weapon" or similar after they shoot someone. Specifically because it sticks in the mind of witnesses and makes it easier to get away with shooting unarmed suspects.

True father.

Can feel that eye contact through the screen Jesus christ

Based as fuck, if more Americans had his balls we'd never have the fascism that Bush started.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wilson really kicked it off. Nixon and Reagan got the ball momentum. I don't remember if Bush Sr. had a crime bill. Clinton poured fuel on the fire with his and Biden's Crime Bill. Then W sealed the deal with the Patriot Act, among some other bits of SCOTUS shenanigans.

Very true, Dubya is just the one in my lifetime that has moved the overton window and fascism furthest. Normalized a lot of what Trump is aiming to do.

His son was shot fleeing from police with a firearm after pointing it at cops and he decides to run into some retired cop directing traffic that was completely uninvolved. What a piece of shit.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 1 week ago (1 children)

While it’s unclear from the blurred body camera footage, Theetge said, the officer who fired the shots said in interviews that Hinton pointed the gun at him.

Oh well I guess so long as the cops claim he waved a gun at them that's all the proof you need. I mean they've never lied about anything like that before right?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Certainly that makes it okay for his dad to run over a random retiree because he was angry, right?

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A life for a life. Nothing about this is fair. Cops shouldn't get a free pass for murdering black kids, even if they stole a car.

Unfortunately, most of the cases that people latch on to as unfair killings turn out to be completely justified. People yell and scream the day after and then when the body came footage shows that the guy was trying to kill a cop everybody just quietly forgets.

Also, have you forgotten the saying an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind? Killing somebody because they're related to somebody that hurt you is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Second part I agree with you, first part no, you're entirely in the wrong about that.

Most of the time it turns out it looks very clearly like the cops just murdered someone for no reason, or escalated a situation to the point where there was going to be a violent confrontation while they had a gun, and that's in the rare situations where the cops conduct is actually caught on video.

I agree that the random cop directing traffic probably didn't deserve to die, but I also disagree with you that that makes the dad a piece of shit. The dad is human, and from watching that video at full speed, it looks an awful lot like that cop just decided to unload his clip into that guy's son and use the gun as a flimsy pretext.

Even if he did genuinely fear for his life, that fear might have come about because of the fear mongering training that police departments actively choose to give their officers, which objectively results in worse policing and more civilians deaths. The repeated non investigations into police escalation, police violence, and police abuse, leave people feeling that they have no rational recourse.

When you systemically hurt people and they don't feel that justice is served, they will eventually respond with violence. The dad's reaction may have been unjustified and may even prove unproductive in furthering his goals, but it's also an inevitable human reaction to the inhuman system of American policing.

The reality and unpopular opinion, is that both of these deaths are the inevitable result of American handgun culture, where it's normal to carry around point and click death machines. In most countries, some random kid who may or may not be stealing a car isn't going to have a gun so it likely won't escalate to this, the cops chasing the kids aren't going to be pissing their pants at the prospect of them having a gun, and if a cop does gun him down it's going to be a lot harder to justify.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

Cops are oppressors. It’s never wrong to kill one.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

Lol ok mom.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

Woa… you opinion is trash ✨

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

All cops are bastards, and death is the least they deserve.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

He chose his side

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Ah yes, the oppressor was being polite with someone else so let's just let him keep doing oppressor shit. /s

These cops are basically an occupying military that we've been socialized into believing are our protectors! As long as they're wearing the uniform, they're doing oppressor shit and are therefore valid targets for community defense.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The best evidence we have of a police free society was CHAZ and it took a week for warlords to take over.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah and now some of the warlords put on blue uniforms and torture the populace. Others wear camo and bomb civilians in foreign lands. Some even hold all resources in the world hostage as they and their minions systematically destroy the planet. Cops don't prevent the warlords from taking over, they ensure that the warlords who already have taken over don't have to personally intimidate their subjects into """peace""".

CHAZ

As discussed in this retrospective by Black Rose, this demonstrates the need for community self-defense, not the police! The police are the very last people on Earth who need to be called in situations like these!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

Piss off, bootlicker.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

They look so bitchmade when they gotta roll up in a gaggle, making sour stomach face. Hopefully, some of them will join the other coward's fate.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'd agree if he'd got the guy who did it, not just the first other cop he saw.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Is it still collective punishment when it's an army in the field and not pows?

Or is the important thing that there's a dude with a gun in an organization aimed at hurting you?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

When was war declared? I have not had the memo.

In any case I'm not entirely sure on what you are putting forward here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

War was declared about the same time trump took office again.

He's putting forth that it's state vs it's constituent.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

I wouldn't pin this particular thing on Trump. This war has been going on awhile.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I dont like trump either mate, but you're gonna have to elaborate, cause this is all i got so far.

Trump elected > war on cops > cop kills son > father kills other cop > justified because of war with cops

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I choose to believe people can't be as cognitive dissonant as OP saying cops (state) started a war since Trump (federal) took office, it must be a psyops by foreign entities to purposely promote a rebellious zeitgeist.

On a related note, I wish there is a way I could configure which federated Lemmy instances I could remove from my feed, ml would be gone so fast...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

since when does there need to be a declaration

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does he have a give send go?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is that some temu version of Venmo or GoFundMe?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Go fund me won’t allow fundraisers for people that are accused of violent crime but give send go will. Give send go is where the Luigi Mangione legal fund is it’s raised 1 million so far.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Ah tx. Knew gfm wouldn't allow them for convicted criminals but now not even for accused? That's fucked up

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I think it's the same one that white woman got like $800k after calling a child a racial slur. Seems like a sketchy site
