Countdown to Trump saying something deplorable. 10...9...8...

[–] [email protected] 107 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Damn, didn’t even get to finish the countdown.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Somehow I don’t think you are joking. 😢

[–] [email protected] 124 points 1 month ago (12 children)

I stomached looking at his truth social account so you don't have to:

Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.

I guess some pr person has his phone today. He'll probably say something stupid in an interview later.

I checked the Conservative subreddit to see what their reaction was and it’s pretty sympathetic. This made me laugh though

Tbf, Trump's health is shrouded in so much subterfuge that you could have gotten the right president but we just don't know it.

metastasis to the bone

Yeah, he's not making it.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 1 month ago

The guy's also 82, so it's not like he has a long road ahead of him regardless of this.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 month ago (4 children)

While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.

Feels like more of the same strategy of downplaying Biden’s symptoms. I bet when he dies they’ll deny it for a few days.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I don’t disagree that there is a strategy of downplaying not just Biden’s, but every politician’s health conditions.

I used to have this absolutely incredible writing professor, who, at 85, told us on the first day of class that he was dying, and had been for 4 years. He even had a blog about his reflections on mortality that he invited us to read. He had prostate cancer. I don’t remember the details, but they couldn’t operate to remove it or do chemo, but it was the kind that is hormone sensitive. They gave him a drug that destroyed his body’s ability to produce testosterone, so the cancer just stopped growing. He died at 90 - 9 years after his diagnosis. 10% extra life for him.

No two people and prognosis’ are alike but the possibility exists they might be telling the truth about managing it.

It should have happened to Trump. Not that Biden is a good guy, but it would be nice if Trump died of an ass related illness.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I'm not convinced Trump is healthy. I bet he has a plethora of health issues but the paid-off doctors aren't releasing the information.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 month ago (6 children)

I mean, we know his health report was a sham. The dude reported that Trump only has like 5% body fat. Even the most shredded body builders struggle to hit 5%.

Thank goodness he lives in a country where the cancer hospitals haven't been bombed out of existence with weapons funded by the United States under the leadership of Joe Biden.

Stage 4 cancer with metastasis? Not gonna make it. No amount of money or power can stop a dead man walking.

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term. He probably won't make it to the end of the current administration.

He won't live long enough to see the major impact of slow rolling Trump's arrest.

I wish cancer got the other guy, but I feel no sympathy for an old racist who betrayed various words and didn't fight back against the fascist hard enough.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 month ago (4 children)

He’s 82, he’s not going to “make it” regardless

Why can't the current president get aggressive cancer? Everyone would love that (although I would pity the cancer).

It's going to be interesting to see how Trump will handle that state funeral

[–] [email protected] 122 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"Interesting" is a kind way to put that he's going to be horrific and make it all about himself.

With all the best doctors the presidents have, they discover it only at the fourth stage?

I'm a lowly peasant and my work let me do a yearly blood+pee test, I assumed that for presidents it would be something like a weekly checkup

[–] [email protected] 107 points 1 month ago (11 children)

It’s likely that they knew a long time ago but they are just now announcing it. This would probably also explain why he was so mentally foggy or, seeming like he had dementia. Many cancer drug drugs can do that toyou.

[–] [email protected] 76 points 1 month ago (2 children)

If that's the case he was even more wrong about running than everyone assumed.

This was exactly my first thought.

And if so, that’s a double “fuck you” to Joe and everyone on his staff trying to keep this shit under wraps.

He should have just resigned the goddamn Presidency when he was first diagnosed JFC

What are these comments? You people are vile.

Either post on reddit and get a mix of Nazis and Russian bots.

Or post on Lemmy and get dumb fucks that idolize Russia or China and don't even understand what communism is they just know it's "cool" to be against capitalism.

Also never vote, but simultaneously blame the Democrats for everything.

This guy wanted another term this time last year.

[Edit] Oh, and some of you all thought it was a good idea. Lol.

[–] [email protected] 78 points 1 month ago (3 children)

You can't really predict stage 4 cancer in your life plans, but it was clear to anyone paying attention that he was not fit for the office anymore.

Still would have voted his ticket over a fascist megalomaniac.

I’d rather him over Trump especially with Harris as his VP.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 month ago

I'd vote for Biden's prostate cancer as Pres over Trump

Bro.

A chihuahua on crystal meth would do a better job than Trump.

A coma patient who doesn't wake up would do a better job than Trump.

I would say that The Devil would do a better job than Trump, but that's kind of like trying to divide by zero.

Maybe I'm cynical but I feel like this is suspicious timing to release this information a day after videos of his memory issues in 2023 surfaced. Feels like a cynical attempt by his PR team to change the narrative.

In all honesty, an 82 year old man having prostate cancer is not very surprising. It is a personal issue and I have sympathy but it's frankly not important to the world. A US president with memory issues concealed from voters and his own party in 2023 when it could have seriously changed decisions about the Democratic party nominations is surprising. That is an issue for everyone and very important to the world.

This comment section shows that even on decentralized, less mainstream platforms there's a lot of people behaving similarly to what would be called bots on Reddit. Come on, guys, we can do better than this.

We can acknowledge Joe Biden's crimes and failures without cheering his sickness and wishing him a painful death. Same with Donald Trump and all the other scummy politicians.

We can also disagree about various policies, issues or parties while treating each other with respect and an open mind, instead of degrading all discussion to 'communism vs capitalism' or 'democracy vs fascism' arguments.

I know it can be difficult to remain civil towards government officials who are essentially criminals, and anyone who supports or seems to support them in any capacity. However, I personally think we should try.

Wishing him all the best. I have seen quite a few men die to that disease (no one dies of prostate cancer but it spreads really fast and to really bad places).

Good luck Biden.
