no, very few buildings had gargoyles. most had grotesques, instead.

If you’re gonna be a pedant at least turn it into a teaching moment by sharing your definition of gargoyle vs. grotesque statue. That would make you a cool and helpful person instead of a smug twat.

You've got enough grotesque going on already these days

Make America Gargoyle Again

You think someone just got confused between the ugly guy, the tower and the top position and that is how we ended up in this mess?

Make Irreplacable Gargoyles Great Again

It's cause they kept coming to life at night to fight the beardy guy from Star Trek

Those damn gargoyles will never find me, now.

"Ornate buildings aren't cost-effective."

"Some nice brutalist architecture then?"

"Also no."

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I’ll take some nice brutalist architecture.

It ain’t all bad.

Just … a lot of it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Brutalist architecture can be nice if it's contrasting with some other architecture, if it's all brutalist it gets overwhelming pretty fast.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

The problem is that cheap style-less architecture is often called brutalist architecture, because it sounds more sophisticated than "eh we were too cheap to make it look nice".

We instead have something I like to call "Corpo-brutalism"

It's like Brutalism, but with random colorful rectangles

Gargoyles -> bats -> furries -> LGBT -> woke.

Xanatos was also a furry. Here is a picture of him in his fursuit:

The gargayle agenda.

I blame Disney.

IF THEY KEPT ON, WE WOULDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm always surprised when I'm reminded that that show was Disney. It feels so similar tonally to BTAS, I'd have sworn it had to be from the same studio. Especially with how off brand it is for typical Disney cartoons.

Apparently a live action reboot is in the works. Can't say I'm holding my breath on that one.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

Of course they'd be planning a live action. Why has that become the go-to? Hell, why even a reboot‽ The original creator is still involved with the comics! He even considers them a direct continuation of the show!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

Don’t blink. Blink and you’re dead.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 weeks ago

Maybe that's what went wrong. We took their protection for granted and now we don't have it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 weeks ago

Funnily I watched a French guy yesterday whose whole shtick is going around town and guerilla installing gargoyle mouths on rain pipes!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

This is due to the declining pigeon population needed to feed them.
