You may be combining the brothers together. The Ford (Rob) that did crack while in office died, this is his brother (Doug) who was elected in 2018.

Cyclists groups get judgement (injunction) saying You can't remove them until court case challenging the legality of removing them completes
Ontario govt appeals against injunction and has lost.
Ergo Cycleways stay until courtcase is done

That was his brother Rob Ford. This guy is way worse. Doug is a fascist that only cares about himself and his cronies.
What rational reason is there to remove them before the court case is complete?
If you remove them and then lose the case challenging the law you'd just have to build them again.
But then ontario can drag its feet and delay rebuilding them for years all while pretending it solved traffic when congestion is predicted to get worse without the lanes.
