Samwise Gamgee. The true hero of LoTR. "I can't carry it for you Mr.Frodo. But I can carry you!" Gets me every time.

Easily, Frodo Baggins. The strongest, bravest, and most noble of hobbits.

Ford prefect

Sam Vimes or Granny Weatherwax.

Tough call, but I'm going to go with Wayne from Brandon Sanderson's Wax and Wayne trilogy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Wax and Wayne is now four books. Wayne is probably my favorite of his characters. I love Mat and Nynaeve, too- Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time (for those who may not know).

Yeah you're right. I have read the most recent one, I just miscounted.

I quite like Mat too, but never could get behind Nynaeve as a character. All the Aes Sedai, even the young ones, seem to have this attitude of "I know everything so I'm closed off to new information" which is infuriating to me. Egwene and Elayne outgrow that somewhat by the end, but less so Nynaeve.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Interesting, because I thought Nynaeve had some of the most and best character growth in the series. But differences make the world go round, IDIC and all. :)

Mine is hard. Ben Sisko, Chido Anagonye, Janets, Margaery Tyrell

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The fact that Chidi is one of the ones and you can't decide is quite poetic

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

This comment is dope and smart brained. I give it an 8.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Mine's also hard: The Thing from Fantastic Four

Good call. Garak is awesome too.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

Obi-Wan Kenobi.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

DEATH from the Discworld Series. One of the most comforting, most human depictions of the "Grim Reaper" I ever read about.

Stephen Maturin, from the Aubrey/Maturin series of novels by Patrick O'Brian.

So brilliant and so socially skilled at times and other times totally inept. Quite a good character.

My favorite part so far (I'm not done with the series) is when he played cricket with the Leopard's crew.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

The horrible old Leopard :)

I'm glad to say you have plenty more brilliant moments ahead of you with both Stephen and Jack.

My favourite (but heartbreaking) Stephen moment: "I am of her caste"

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Donna Noble- specifically The Doctor Donna. Not like it's obvious or anything though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

My favorite pairing in that show, ever.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

Probably Jerome, from Three Men in a Boat. I wish I could be perfectly eloquent and poetic without losing my childish sense of humour.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Maybe megaman zero

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Rand Al’Thor

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Becky Connor. She was such a little bad ass when she was growing up and she does a hell of a job bouncing back from being a widow as an adult.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Homer Simpson

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

I was obsessed with Long John Silver as a child, but I think I might enjoy the character of Captain Ahab more nowadays. I guess I have a thing for flawed maritime literary characters

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Hard to say for sure, but one of my favorites is Amos Burton from The Expanse. I don't know if he was meant to be anyone's favorite given his personality and violent nature, but I love him anyway.

Now, you would assume it to be GLaDOS due to to my username on here and Reddit, but it's not. It's Trizza Tethis.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Kilgore Trout, unless you allow me my own characters, which you wouldn't recognize anyway.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

My girlfriend

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The drummer in the Schfifty Five song

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I don't know if it counts, but Steve from Minecraft.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Holden Caulfield

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Rust Cohle from True Detective

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Doremus Jessup recently.
