What did Dave think of it? None of us matter if Dave actually appreciated the (albeit minimal, noncommittal) gesture

[–] [email protected] 93 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Yeah this is between them. Leave them alone or offer support. Negativity won't help anything

[–] [email protected] 25 points 5 months ago (1 children)

don't put it on Twitter if you don't want people seeing it and possibly talking shit. it's not between them anymore. social media has fucked people's brains, main character syndrome.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If it was between them they wouldn't be posting it on social media

I would like to point out that actors are usually contractually obligated to maintain a specific appearance. Stamos may literally have not been able to shave his head in solidarity, so while seemingly noncommittal I think there could be more to the gesture. As you say, Dave is the only authority on the matter either way.

Well wasn’t he dating Alanis Morisette when he was 30 and she was 17

Edit: in 92. So she was 17/18 and he was 32/33

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 months ago (1 children)

How's that relevant to the bald thing?

Not defending it, but what's it have to do with Dave liking the gesture or not

Being mad about this instead of Dave Coulier "dating" Alanis Morisette when he was in his 30s and she was 17 is like being mad at Obama about wearing a tan suit and not all the drone bombings or mass-deportations.

We're bad at picking what to be pissed about.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Well you say that, but this Stamos guy is a fucking asshole, why didn't he simply go rogue and shave his head and shutdown whatever production he is working on while his hair grows back, like those people working on it with him can take a few months without pay

[–] [email protected] 28 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This was my first thought. I bet his hair has it’s own contract and he couldn’t break it.

It really did rain on my wedding day and I did not see the irony of the situation. We were inside so it really wasn't a problem.

Came here to say , who cares if the pedo has cancer ffs.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (5 children)

Playing Devil's advocate, is he autistic? A lot of autistic guys tend to date younger and find them easier to relate with. She was 17 and he was like 30? guess it depends on the law. Kinda silly that only a few months or weeks later and he's not "a creep".

Has he done anything else after that?

edit: funny how Lemmy down votes me for this, yet cheers and jerks off to Johnny Depp and similar men, who are 60 and grooming teens and banging girls in their 20s.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (6 children)

I left Bluesky to read men's takes on Lemmy: "child rape is equivalent to a brown suit, despite the child herself writing and speaking about the pain and agony of that relationship," and "autism is the same as pedophilia." Amazing takes, Lemmy. This is why no one likes your app - the users are actual human garbage.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

At least the bad take is getting downvoted? πŸ˜…

You're right, the difference being a few weeks is silly. There should be a tier system instead. Like 15-, 16-17, 18-20, 21-24. If you're an old fart, you can only date over 25. If you're within one of the tiers, you can date within the same tier and maintain any relationship that was started when you were previously in the same tier. Something like that, but with a little more polish.

Do... Do you actually think you're being downvoted by people cheering on Johnny Fuckinf Depp? Or are you just whining because you're learning that your bad takes are also bad?

Ok, I kinda get it. His looks are his living, without those he has nothing. But seeing as that is the case, he might have found another way to support his friend rather than an empty, performative stunt.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 5 months ago

rather than an empty, performative stunt.

looks to me both parties are enjoying themselves in the photo, doesn't look empty or performative at all. if Dave Coulier was cool with it, thats all that matters imo

[–] [email protected] 29 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Isn't shaving one's head an "empty performative stunt"? It doesn't provide any benefit to the cancer patient.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (3 children)

I don't think so if you're fond of your hair. Even if it grows back, it's a symbolic sacrifice in solidarity--a nice firm hug. A bald cap feels like a limp hug or a pat on the head.

I wonder if they can cut it out.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago

John checking his xitter replies like "oh mylanta 😩"

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago

cutting out fake drama? they can't, they crave it.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 5 months ago

I'm gonna give Stamos the benefit of the doubt as say maybe he needs the hair for work. No seriously. He's an actor, their appearance and image are work relevant.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I see nothing wrong with doing a gesture in support of a friend.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago

I think what people see as wrong with it is these sorts of gestures are usually actually shaving your hair off in support. As a way of saying you're in this together and there to support the individual. This method comes off as disingenuous because you can just take the cap off and go back to your normal life, the other person can't.

Ultimately it's between them, but if you're going to publicize it. It comes off as shallow and an attempt at making yourself a part of someone else's illness

[–] [email protected] 25 points 5 months ago (3 children)

So what you’re supposed to cut your arm off to support a one armed friend?

Cut it out!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Well if it grew back like hair….

A. Who gives a fuck if Stamos didn't actually shave his head.

B. Fuck Dave Coulier.

Look at his hairline. He's balding anyway so just gave it a try to see if he likes it. Made a PR campaign out of it, end of story

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

Coulier looks good bald. Stamos, not so much.

I think when you're probably shooting (as in filming) stuff you can't just shave your head in the middle of an ongoing project.

Otherwise I'd agree with the sentiment he should actually shave his hair but in this specific circumstance it doesn't feel disingenuous.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 months ago

Cut ✌️

It πŸ‘‰

Out πŸ‘

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago

Maybe he expected the fans to have mercy on him.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Guess he really is paranoid about his hair

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

He's got a great head of hair. My wife thinks he's a bit of a nutter though, but in a good, nice way.

I wish I looked as good bald as they do. I have a head as lumpy as an overripe orange.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Very true! I look like an overripe fruit and I smell as though that fruit were a durian.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Which is considered a delicacy in some places. All about knowing your people.

This reminds me of that reddit story about a mom who was pissed and went off on a hair stylist who wouldn't shave his head for her daughter who had cancer
