Black lives matter?

No, more racism!

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 month ago

This is the better version of the joke.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago

That's a good one. I actually thought they did it as a weird protest until I saw the source.

The Onion has lost all credibility since a couple of weeks.

EDIT: Geez you people don't like jokes... I'm saying this because reality got so stupid lately that even The Onion can't go far enough. And it's the very nature of satire not to be credible. That's what the joke was all about, it's.... The Onion lol. Also fuck you all if you're trigerred by this.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How? This isn't even from the Onion. Also, how can a satire news source have credibility?

I call it humor.

Congrats, you’ve just experienced your first time “bombing” it’s something every aspiring comedian experiences. Write better jokes.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nah, I still think it's a good joke, sorry. But you user name checks out lol.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But you user name checks out lol.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I see you’re as original as you are funny.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm just jocking lol. There's many reason to be mad right now, a bad joke (there I'm admitting it) isn't a good one.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My dude… You told a bad joke, you got downvoted for it, and started whining about how nobody understood your joke. Nobody seems mad except you.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

I take it back, it was a good joke actually. BTW you're the one who got all triggered over this.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Does someone tie your shoes for you, or are they Velcro?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

ZeroCool your username has lost all credibility since a couple of hours. you are, in fact, cool

Satire sites don't lose by losing credibility ... they lose by gaining credibility

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

We don’t live in that world.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is either an amazing joke, or a really stupid statement.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

I felt the joke was really obvious...

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You're one of the stranger trolls I've encountered

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's.... a J O K E... Damn people get triggered easily.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When no one likes your joke, don't blame the audience.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Right. I'll avoid humor from now on.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

That's certainly one way to respond to feedback

What part of "satire" could be called credible?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't understand how so many of you even took this seriously.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can't speak for others, but I have autism and interpret things literally unless there are obvious signs of a joke. I'm one of the people that benefit from textual tone indicators.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Fair enough. It's the nature of satire not to be credible, and that's what the joke was all about.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just wanted to say that I understood your joke immediately and it gave me a good laugh. Irony in text is tricky. These are triggering times so I can see how people got confused...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Lol thanks. I wasn't expediting so much reaction for this. I mean it's The Onion...

Their second option was 'no mo' racism.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (6 children)

I still think it makes no sense to write ~~political~~ non-sports slogans on a football pitch. (Not that I support racism)

Edit: Ok I'm clearly missing some US-specific sports context here.

[–] [email protected] 76 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Quite frankly it's flat out scary that you think that saying 'racism is bad' is politics.

Fundamental human rights, and a basic respect for human beings regardless of what race they were born as, is not politics. People who want to make it politics should have the ever living fuck smacked out of them at minimum.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

'political' was probably a bad choice of word on my part because I agree that whether racism is bad needn't be up for debate. The point I was trying to make was more that this proclamation has nothing to do with football. They could plaster a hundred other agreeable slogans like 'end fossil fuels', 'tax the rich' etc. across the pitch but I don't think it's something the football goer would appreciate.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

No, because end fossil fuels and tax the rich are not universal, inarguable, basic human rights.

And if the football goer doesn't appreciate the words 'end racism' or has a problem with it, they should have the ever living fuck smacked out of them.

You're really over complicating this.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Put the shovel down, please. Racial justice and sports have an extremely long history. You are either uneducated on the subject or trolling extremely hard. Racism in sports is an ongoing issue both domestically and worldwide, pretending they aren't related is insane.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Saying racism is bad is not politics. It's common sense.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Exactly, that's why I don't see the point of such a sign being displayed at a football pitch where people go to watch football (and not to think about racism) – because it should be obvious that racism is bad wherever.

You witness a huge political display at the start of every game. The NFL was paid by the department of defense for the athletes to be present on the field for the anthem.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When someone yells racial slurs at games do you just tell them to keep politics out of the stadium?

Hmm keep politics out of sports?

glances national anthem being played

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's extremely bizarre to play a national anthem at a national game. If it was international I would understand.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

For USA/CAN NHL games it makes sense, Nashville versus Tampa does not.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Cover your ears as the jets fly over

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago

So you're agreeing racism is part of the GOP platform then?
